My quick dig into the cba/Google I don't see anything that inherently prevents it....Serious question, can you have a player standing behind the bench in a suit? Is there a rule against it?
Tricky part would be the cap. They would either need to get no salary as a coach, or the salary for coach would count against the cap. You'd think there would be something in their given there are similar things happening in the past.
Doug Harvey was a player/coach in the 60s. He played a full time role while doing it.
Nanne played, coached and GMed in 78 for the North Stars. Although only coach and GM were at the same time(retired to become front office).
Lemieux in the post lockout was an Owner/Player. He had to give up his board of governor's voting power and wasn't allowed to be apart of the NHLPA(but still has to pay dues).
