Kraken player André Burakovsky's father, Robert Burakovsky, is a real character.
He had a playing career spanning 40 years, was a pro player in 8 different countries and played for 22 different clubs.
He and Heinz Ehlers, the father of Nicolaj Ehlers in Winnipeg used to play together in the SHL and boy did they score in bunches. They were a lethal duo, played together for 9 years.
Robert had a god given talent, but didn't like to practice very much. He'd rather sit in the dressing room and sink a couple of beers with Heinz.
Every game between the periods he stood outside and smoked some cigarettes, then he went in and scored a couple of goals.
His coaches hated his guts, because he always knew better than them.
Or that's what he thought.
