Assertive maybe, but let that take the form that speaks, you know? Not saying they do, but if you had a Tage Thompson wouldn't you prefer he do that instead of go out there thinking about how to be more of something he's maybe not?

I just meant grit, not dirty. But yeah assertive is better word for it. With his reach and his hands, he ought to be looking at tape of jagr and kopitar. He could develop in that direction.
If we ever do get a PP in this game, i hope we park 8 right in front and see if he can bang one in that way

Beck is not just an NHLer but likely a very good 4th line player, it's wild how good he actually is with how little time and opportunity he's had. Man is looking fast right now and has a weird knack for avoiding that post-dump interference and getting to his own pucks, good hands, plus his d-zone play is pretty good and he finishes his checks.

If I had god powers or a really cool NHL simulator, I've always wondered what would have happened if Ovechkin with all his same skills and abilities was a defenseman.
Would he be as good? Well, no, very unlikely, but holy shit would that guy still be able to hit people all the time, clear the net, and use his shot's absurd range regardless of position
In the offseason threads that inevitably come up about cloning a player for a different position that's always my answer. And two of those shots on one team would be stupid.

Off the ledge, we've also had games where we cycled the shit out of teams and looked way better than should be managed.

they're fast and big and stopped playing that clunky, chugging Sutter game, they've been good as a unit. Weirdly one guy is not moving the needle for me but I don't want to put anything out in the universe at the moment
