Rated only #3NA goalie bt central Scouting at mid-term --but I note he got his 5th shutout in just 18GP last night in EDM OILKINGS 7-0 shellacking of Mosse Jaw --true EDM is the top team in their conference and 3rd overall in the WHL --and true he only faced 13 shots last night and only faced an average of 24.22 shots per game--so he doesn't face barrages of shots--but still 5 shutouts in just 18Gp plus a measley 1.60 GAa and a .936 save% is nothing to sneeze at especially compared to
starter vet Laurent Brossoit's (32GP ) 2.24 GAA .920 save% and only 2 shutouts for the same good team ...ADD to this that JARRY gave up NADA on 16 shots fired at him in the Top Prospects Game playing the 2nd half of the game for losing Team Cherry --where vaunted starter Zachary Fucale the CSS #1 rated NA goalie once again proved he just cannot stop pucks giving up 3 goals on the 20 shots he faced --yes FUCALE has a decent GAA for the best team in the Q--halifax (2.49GAA) but his save% is only .896 so he's hardly improved over last year's .892 for Halifax despite the team improving lots whereas JARRY has improved his save% a lot over lst year's .894....
He still got rated #3NA goalie --but now with #2 rated NA goalie Eric Comrie out for the season with a hip injury-I expect JARRY could leap to #1 goalie taken in the draft and a legit 1st rounder if he keeps this kind of stellar goalrending up ...AT the Top Prospects Game ,I liked JARRY's hybrid style and the attitude of confidence he ooozed--there is something "it" about him --maybe special like Brodeur --and the t.v. comentators said he also is a very good puck handling goalie...I think you gotta consider him in that first round mix now and maybe going as early as somwhere in the teens ..the only caveat is that as the EDM back-up he has not been tested on a "workload" that the starter gets ---a heavier "grind" of games playedwould test his mental stamina more-still he exudes a lot of confience i have not seem in most Jr. goalies.I think he might have that very special quality --being both good and confidently knowing it without any doubts ...my hunch pick to click guy...
Anyway -if NHL teams want to be stupid and let him slide or choose Fucale and or Comrie ahead of him --well my Blackhawks could use a stud goalie in the pipeline and if the Blackhawks pick near the end of round one this season instead of in the high teens , I hope STAN BOWMAN would be smart enough to grab him before he mistakes on some other position -because I don't think Stan can keep kicking the lack of elite goaltending issue (currently and in the pipeline) down the road--Again--time he addressed it...I 'd recommend Stan tell his scouting staff to be radaring this kid for targeting at the draft -if he still is on the board..
(OF course the other option could be #1 rated eurogoalie Jusse Saros --but we'll see how he plays for Finland at the U-18's this spring) -his drawback is that at 5'10 181
he is not got the size NHL scouts now want -but his history on save % at various levels of Jr. in Finland has been very good -buthe'llneed to show a lot under the prssure cooker of the World U-18's )..JARRY at 6'2 and about the same weight may get a big ratings edge overall just from that size factor)..
Maybe my hunch is wrong--but JARRY keeps on keeping pucks out -and that will keep on impressing teams that might target a goalie with their first rounder this draft.
