Arguably the best goalie? No, not even close.
He’s easily considered by pundits to be a top 2 goalie in the tourney. He had one bad game.

We get it, you’re a Flames homer, you think the Flames prospect should play over Knight. Clearly, Team USA coaches, who know these players about 1000x better than you, disagree.

Best goalie in the CHL back to back seasons is nothing to scoff at, I think Knight is the better goalie but I just think Wolf should've gotten some more action.

Cool, I think that’s perfectly reasonable :) Wolf is certainly a very good goalie too. If Knight had had a 2nd weaker game, he would have been given the reins.

Can we stop the Wolf talk in the Knight thread? There’s another thread to complain/board to complain about usage:

Right now it looks like Knight is a top 2/3 goalie prospect in the world depending on whether Sorokin is considered. Insane play in BC but most Florida fans want to see him perform in high pressure games (unfortunately NCAA was cancelled). I’m curious if Knight will be signed after this season?

I don’t care how it’s been in the past, did you watch his last 2 games? I said in the tournament it’s been horrible, if you actually watched his games you’d know that.
You said "his puck playing is abysmal" -- not that it has been abysmal in the tournament. Those are two different things and now you're back-tracking.

Interesting comment made by Gord Miller of TSN last night about Knight's contract status, or lack thereof. Miller said that because Knight was drafted from the USNTDP, the Panthers have two years to sign him. But according to a clause in the CBA, (see page 18) the Panthers retain his rights until 2023 because Knight "became a bona fide college student" before the June 1 following his selection in the draft. With Bobrovsky signed long-term, I would have to think there is motivation on Knight's part to find a way on to another team before Bob's boat anchor of a contract expires. The question is: how soon can that happen? This summer, or 2023? Any CBA experts out there that can give a definitive answer?

Miller is an idiot.
FLA will sign Knight after 3 years at BC and bring him along as he keeps progressing.

Hes 20 in April, will be 21 leaving NCAA, dont see him staying 4 full years.

Probably gets a full year in AHL in his 22 year old season and brought in as a backup to Bob in his 23 year old season and could be the starter or playing lions share by 24 years old.

Miller is an idiot: you can go to capfriendly if you want to confirm.

I’m not sure if Miller just wants to poop on the Panthers or if he is ignorant (or both): 8.6 (c) (iv) of the CBA makes it clear the Panthers keep his rights as long as he remains a college student or his fourth year after the draft (which ever is longer)

Pre 2012 CBA there was a loophole for those who spent time in the USHL post graduation but that was done away with

Hate it as a Canadian fan, but he was terrific tonight, massive pressure and didn’t let anything in. Despite a rocky first game, he had an excellent tourney.

Who won top goalie of the tournament? Knight would get my vote - 3 shutouts, and an exceptional gold medal game.

Stepped up respect to this man.

Big-time performance by a big-time player. I’ll say it a again, the kid is a born winner.

Big game: that was my main worry as a prospect and he did it despite his team playing not so well for the last 30 minutes!
