I assume his previous thread was lost in the embarrassing crash.

Having a great season in the Q after a very rough last year and start of this year in the USHL.

15-0-0 record
1.52 GAA
.948% SV%

Obviously playing on the best team in the Q certainly helps. But has far superior stats than their main minutemuncher.

He seems like he's figured some stuff out. Cedar Rapids is a bit of a mess without much notable talent on their roster the past couple years, helps going to Moncton. Will be interesting to follow once he gets to the NCAA

Detroit's goalie scouting seems to be pretty good the last few years.
For the most part, I'd agree. Still pretty early on Guimond, we'll see how he does in the NCAA. Cossa and Augustine should be solid NHL goalies, Gylander is decent depth. I never understood the Landon Miller pick this past draft, but if that's your biggest goalie draft whiff in the Yzerman Era, that department is doing pretty damn well.

Have a feeling Augustine is going to walk. Won't want to sit behind Cossa. They'll have to pick between the two which one they want to invest time into as their future starter. Guimond could be that next guy to be in the AHL though.

I'm not going to pretend he's going to be anything good or bad... but he's got good size and those numbers are pretty wild. He's made himself into someone to keep an eye on for sure

The kid from Michigan is gonna walk? The league is becoming more and more a 1A 1B goalie tandem. Detroit won’t have to pick who is 1A for 5-6 years.

How many good teams actually have a 1A 1B set up? How many of those had both goalies that came through the team's farm system at roughly the same time?

They aren't going to spend time trying to develop both Augustine and Cossa. Like I said, they can decide to go with Augustine. I don't know if they will. Either way Guimond can be the new guy to stick in the AHL for 4 or 5 years.

You're just proclaiming things without any evidence to back it up whatsoever. Everything the front office has said and done thus far indicates precisely that they will try and develop both Augustine and Cossa. I don't even like our front office FWIW lol.

Guimond is more likely to run out the clock to UFA and sign with someone random, get sent to the A or Coast, and who knows after that.

Augustine walk!!! Geezus as if this year hasn’t been bad enough someone has to come up with that one

Rudy keeps on winning

So what is going on here? The Cats jettisoned a very good Steinman to presumably upgrade with Rousseau. Is he simply getting outplayed by Guimond?

I watched Steinman in the Moose/Volts series.. He was spectacular.
There was no way they were beating a team like to Huskies with the specials they have, plus goaltending.

They're still alternating between Rousseau and Guimond every game. Both have been solid, but I think Guimond has been better.

And yeah, the Steinman trade is pretty baffling in retrospect.

No. They are splitting the starts between Rousseau and Guimond.

Steinman played very well for Halifax but had some shaky games earlier in the first half of the season. With Moncton #1 in the CHL i think they wanted more experience with Rousseau who has a much higher pedigree.

Guimond is committed to Yale and wasn't going to play in the Q but the rules changed mid season and Moncton was able to get him out of the USHL and now they have a top notch goaltending duo.

Someone higher up decided that a "proven" goalie was important and forced the trade. Steinman was arguably the best goalie in the league at the time, but Rousseau had the playoff experience (but was not playing nearly as well this year.

Guimond has come in and played like a top level goalie and forced the Wildcats' hand.

What rule changed mid season?
