For the second year in a row, there is a hot young goaltender down in Victoria.
However, unlike 2023 BCHL Rookie of the Year, Olivier Auyeung-Ashton, who was only 5'9", this goalie actually has size at 6'3".

In his first 6 games this season, he has had a 1.90 GAA, a .935 Save percentage, and a record of 4-1-0.

He is 14 days past the cut off for the 2024 Draft, so he will eligible in 2025.
What do you think?

He's one to watch for sure. Not many potential draft prospects in the BCHL this year.

How is he doing this season?

Not bad. Funny enough he did not start the game that I went to watch against Surrey. He was actually 8-1-1 with pretty good stats, but he was sharing the net with another '06 in Gatto.

I don't know but he seems to have joined QMJHL Shawinigan where he's gonna have tough competition. Interesting move.

Wow, another one. So many of the Quebecors and Easterners are leaving the BCHL. Does Shawinigan have a starter already?

Shawinigan is down a goalie since the beginning of the season due to an injury.

Hate when that happens. Can be one of the challenges with assessing goaltenders, unless you're seeing virtually every game of a team.

I remember Trey Augustine didn't play any games I watched for the NTDP U17's the first half of his U17 year. They had two other goaltenders and even though he was clearly the best I happened to watch the games that the other two would play.

Yeah. Recently it became clear that Mathys Fernandez suffered a setback and is gonna be out long term. So I can totally see why Shawinigan was looking to add another goalie.

However, I don't think Fernandez is necessarily ruled out for the season yet and they have another 05 born veteran goalie, Félix Hamel, who has been fantastic for them this season.

So again. I can see why Shawinigan was interested but certainly a brave decision by Bresson to join a team with two strong veteran goalies...especially during his draft season. Even if Fernandez doesn't return, Hamel is gonna be tough competition for playing time. Shawinigan can't really do experiments either. It's been a difficult season for them so far. In the Central they're far behind Drummondville already and pretty much on paar with Sherbrooke.

Lost his first game for Shawinigan, the students game in Charlottetown. Got 3rd star from away media despite giving up 3 goals in 60mins. Bresson's problem is that Félix Hamel posted a shutout vs Halifax last night. Will be an interesting situation to follow this season but I really don't see Bresson beating out a strong veteran goalie like Hamel. I think this is gonna be a 1a/1b situation at best...which is probably not what you want in your draft season.
