2nd goalie selected in the last QMJHL draft, Beckman is listed at 6'1, 193 already.

Has not played that much in the Q this year... He's allowed 5 goals in 5 starts, which obviously gives him really good stats

Could be an interesting goalie to follow next season.

He is really starting to open some eyes right now. He looks like a 19 year old starter with 100+ games played. He looks very calm and confident. I'm very intrigued by what he does for the rest of the season.

He was considered a pretty good goalie coming off midget but he really exceeded expectations so far. He is a legit prospect for this year's draft and is barely 17 years old (august 23rd). He is listed as a 6'2 goalie on the Q website. 0.921 in 10 games now.

Acquired by first-place Chicoutimi from struggling Baie-Comeau over the Christmas break.

What will that mean both in the short-term and for his NHL future (if there is one)?

Apologies for opening another thread initially. I couldn't find it in the search.

Unreal stats with Chicoutimi...

Regular season 13-1 1.52 .940

Playoffs 6-0 1.00 .953

Yes, great team, but their other goalie is 2.43 .901 in 40 games.

Before the trade, Beckman was .905 on a terrible team. Last year he was. 914 in the regular season and. 922 in the playoffs.

6'2 195, so a bit smaller than average for a goalie.

I forget where I saw it, but somewhere I read a blurb saying Beckman has a good chance to be Canada's #1 goalie in the World Juniors. Especially if he keeps it up and wins the QMJHL cup, and/or Memorial Cup.

I would never predict or count on goalies, as they are voodoo, but this Montreal kid Beckman has the stats of a high end prospect.

Maybe the old Quebec goalie factory can be revived? It's been awhile. I guess Fleury was the last great Quebec goalie.

Can somebody comment on this player who has actually seen him play? And what is his style?

I noticed he is very young for his draft year.

As I said many times before, someone got to the next great Q goaltender hope, why cant it be Beckman. Also 6-2 is similar to some of the other Qs great of the past, Roy, Brodeur, Fleury...

I wonder why the Q goalie factory shut down? And Canada as a whole fell behind in developing goalies.

Why should Finland have more top goalies than Canada with such a smaller population?

Things are cyclical, so hopefully Quebec, and Canada start producing top goalies again. Canada needs a successor to Carey Price, although Binnington played well at the big tournaments, and I think Logan Thompson is an excellent goalie. But we need 1-3 superstar goalies, like in the old days.

Im wondering the same thing man, I grew up with Canadian goaltender such as Roy, Brodeur, Potvin, Belfour and Joseph, then Luongo, Fleury and Price, then it just stop. Its got to cycle back to Canada when it come to goaltenders sooner or later right?....right?
