G Jesper Wallstedt (2021, 20th, MIN)

This has to be a blip in development which is normal in goalies. Surprised he's doing so bad. Shocked actually.

Has an .868 SV%. By far the worst of the four goaltenders who've played for Iowa this year.

What's going on?
He seems to just be mentally cratering, even if he were to regress, to regress this bad is shocking. Maybe he has the yips. It sounds like he needs a new scenery, and a fresh start, for his own sake. Wild fans won’t want to hear that, but another year like this and his career could be completely ruined.

At least he already has that contract to replace Fleury. Lucky for him he signed that before putting up this season.

(Or could it be argued having that already signed actually contributed to him relaxing this season?)

It goes to show how voodoo goalie prospects are.

Sens fans loved Sogaard a couple years ago, now he's proven to be awful. Although he was never close to being as highly regarded as Wallstadt. Now we love Merilainen, who has had 2 good seasons in the AHL and was terrific in 12 NHL games (saved our season when Ullmark and Forsberg were injured at the same time), and is now a much better prospect than Wallstadt, certain to be the Sens backup next season.

I've followed Wallstadt, as I wanted the Sens to draft him instead of Boucher.

Sometimes players have 1 bad season, if he bounces back next year, he could be a good prospect again.

At least the Wild already have a good goalie, so if Wallstadt busts, the team will be fine.

Gus was awful last season, 3.06 GAA and a .899 save %.

He bounced back. Bad years happen.

Hopefully Wallstedt will do the same.
