So...is he gonna get drafted? Samuel Meloche, Vincent Gladu, Lucas Beckman and lately Owen Bresson are absolutely rocking the Q while D'Aigle is still struggling and not improving at all.

Will be interesting to see if he gets drafted based on talent alone, completely ignoring performance. The fact that plenty of 07 born goalies are thriving while D'Aigle as an 06 late birthday can't seem to get his act together might scare some organizations but I suspect some team is still gonna shoot for upside in the later rounds.

Is he talented? It’s been a long time of bad performance. You have to start asking if he’s actually good.

He might get a 7th round pick or something. The problem is you have 2 years to make a decision on CHL goalies so you pretty much burn the pick or a contract slot if he doesn't improve in that time.

I live in Victoriaville and his development has just been terrible. He's been fine the couple games I've seen this year even if he's allowed a lot of goals. The defense looked like Montreal's: horrible giveaways and pucks lost right in front of the net. He had absolutely no chance on A LOT of goals.

I think there's still potential in him but, to be fair, he should have spent his first year in Midget instead of the Q, even if he was playing great as a rookie. Darveau was absolutely amazing and there was little reason to play D'aigle. Now, he has the net but the team lost many key veterans and is in rebuild mode.

If I was a GM, I would totally draft him. I still think he could become an NHL goalie. All the tools are there. He just needs to play and get his confidence back.

The tools are there but there is a big question mark with his mental game

If I were him I'd go to the NCAA after the 4-5 years in the Q to develop there now that the barrier is down. He is barely a CHL goalie rn and nowhere close to being ready for even ECHL or AHL pro hockey in 2-3 years.

Interesting article in the Journal de Quebec. For those who don't read French, you can paste the link in Chrome and get it translated.

The bit at the end sums it up going forward. He's on a different development path and has some work to do if he wants to succeed. (Cloutier is the GM in Victoriaville).

Reading between the lines it seems like they are molding him to be top tier starter next year in line with their development cycle and a recognition that most nights he's being hung out to dry by the team in front of him.

He’s not getting drafted with those stats unless some team throws him a bone because he was known earlier than others.

.876 isn’t an pick. A bad team doesn’t make a goaltender have an .876 SV%.

I'm not sure if performance necessarily matters all that much for goalies. At that age, every goalie is a project and inconsistent. Yeah, if you wanna go in the earlier rounds you have to perform way better than D'Aigle but after that it's mostly about picking goalies with upside. D'Aigle is big and one heck of an athlete. He's gonna be one heck of a punt but I think there will be teams looking to draft him in the later rounds.

Draft isn't deep enough for him to go undrafted. Some team will definitely pick him based on what his hype was before and hope that he can be developed.

I’ll take small and better stats. That tends to project better to the NHL recently.

No, but an horrific team does and that's what Victoriaville is this year. There's a reason why no other goalie has a victory this season.

I’m sorry, but I just don’t believe that’s true.

I could buy .890-.905 on an atrocious team.

I’m sure he faces crazy difficult chances and all that, but there’s just no way he’s giving up like 5 tap-ins a game on 40 shots.

I track goaltending stats closely because my favorite player is the best goaltender in the world.

He probably isn’t doing a good job either at stopping the savable shots. I’d love to see the advanced metrics on his numbers that I’m sure is tracked somewhere (whether publicly or not). I’d bet with a .876 he’s towards the bottom on just about any difficulty of shot.
