We're all counting on you. Good luck sir

My first thought of Tokarski is always the memorial cup he won alongside Drayson Bowman. They picked up the trophy and it broke in half immediately

Crazy how long ago that was now.

God I remember how excited I was for that crop of prospects at the time. Nash, Boychuk, Dalpe, Bowman, Murphy etc.

Nash and Dalpe did alright in niche roles I guess but I should have known they weren't going to be impact NHLers

Nash put together a solid career as a filler/role player, he was always kind of a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none guy. 628 NHL games, 300+ AHL games, 35 yo injured this year but still getting $400k AHL salary and was the Checkers point leader 2 seasons ago

My brother-in law, who is older than me was a "child of the 70s". I had to remind him recently that 1970 is as far away from 1916 as it is from 2024. His mind was blown.
As I’ve aged I’ve had fun thinking of time in reverse relative to my age. I’m born in the 70’s and when you count backwards it takes you past the common use of electricity, the Dust Bowl days to the Great Depression…only a little short of effing WW1.

Eye opener.

It helps you get perspective on history though. I grew up seeing these grainy black and white pictures and thinking of it as a time so far back I had no connection to that world and it had no bearing. Knowing it’s only as far back as my own life changes how I think of all of it. If I make it to 80’s and beyond I’m in the 1800’s with the beginning of the use of cars instead of horses, Wounded Knee and the days of Wyatt Earp and Billy the Kid.

Nothing says desperate like a guy who was on the couch, who's in a wolves jersey, and sabres helmet, and 3 year old pads from his last stint in pittsburgh.
Didn't some de or lb come off the couch for the Steelers and help them to a sb?

That's clearly the expectation here. Worst case I get Kurt Warner vibes.
