This guy looks like a legit goalie prospect for next year's draft. Commited to UMass, he is probably USHL bound next year. Any scouting report on him?

Swiss 06 goalie class looks good. Finally a good group (Hrdina, McNutt, Solèr, Neuenschwander, Kirsch) after a few weaker ones. Kirsch is very much part of that group. Intriguing size/mobility combo, clean technique. Very inconsistent, giving up lots of soft goals but at that age that's pretty normal I guess.

Too early to make predictions since goalies are complete voodoo but my hope is that one or two of that group work out. It might be Kirsch, who knows?

He seems to struggle when playing weak to average teams. He plays really well against the good teams. When he is on he is one of the best in the OHL. When he is off he lets in some questionable goals.

3 shutouts in his last 6 games. All 3 were against top OHL teams.

He's always been an extremely inconsistent goalie. Not sure about NHL but I think he has some pro potential.

Yeah, we've seen the same in international games. Very incosistent with a tendency to give up soft goals but has almost always given his teams a chance to win important games. He tends to do better under heavier workloads which, to me, indicates that the problem is probably between the ears. Positioning, mobility and technique are already excellent, just needs to learn how to keep his focus, stay mentally checked in no matter the score or quality of opposition.

He's gonna be a good goalie in the NL or other European top leagues at the very least. NHL upside is tough to predict for goalies. Even the most gifted goalie may never reach NHL level if he can't get it together mentally.

Headed to Quinnipiac next season but as of now both goalies are eligible to return.

Is that still the plan?

First OHL playoff shutout. One of the weirdest games I think I ever watched. Very even game for two periods with two good goalies stopping everything they saw. Then the third period was just suddenly all Rangers who exploded for four goals and didn't allow Saginaw a single shot all period long...which sure has helped Kirsch's shutout bid.

I don’t think Kirsch has it. Has been great as of late but he was super inconsistent throughout the year and didn’t give me any fear when he was in net.

Inconsistent yes...with a tendency to give up soft goals. But this kid is a winner. Like I said, he's always given his teams a chance to win. And the bigger the stage, the busier he is, the tougher he is to beat.

He has won the EYOF, the Swiss U21 elite league, the OHL and maybe the Memorial Cup tomorrow. You can't argue against success. He'll need to work on the mental side of things if he wants to make the NHL but physically and technically he's certainly a fantastic prospect and very much pro ready. Is he gonna crack the NHL? Who knows, goalies are voodoo and a lot is decided between the ears. I certainly wouldn't bet against Kirsch though.

I don't have any idea which one of you is right, but I have to think the Sharks are happy with his progression post draft.

I don't know if this is about right or wrong. I tend do stay away from making predictions for goalie prospects. But like you said, he does look like a promising goalie prospect and the Sharks have to be happy...even though last season probably didn't exactly go to plan.

4-0-0 at the Memorial Cup. 1.50 GAA, 95.2% shots saved. Best record ever at the Memorial Cup? I looked at the last 20 years and found nothing better. Kirsch's stats are also better than the ones of Dustin Tokarski who was the last goalie to win Memorial Cup MVP back in 08.
