AINT NO WAY

They are drowning in Kool aid

I get why Vegas are the villains of the league, but how the f*** are the Oilers not even more hated for employing Stan Bowman, Evander Kane and Corey Perry, and now Babcock??!! Not to mention that he hasn't been in the league for years...

God, the Oilers are a clown organisation.

This is what the Athetic mentioned as a potential package that we could give for Larkin. I still feel that we're better off packaging that 9th pick for a goalie rather than anotehr centre but if we are only one of three teams, maybe we give Samo rather than Lousty?

Florida Panthers

  • Detroit gets: No. 9 pick in 2026 draft, F Eetu Luostarinen, F Sandis Vilmanis
  • Florida gets: F Larkin
Pronman: This would be the hardest reset for Detroit fans to stomach. Luostarinen is a good roster player who is very athletic and plays both ways. Vilmanis hasn’t made the league yet, but he was a top player at the World Championship and is tracking as a middle-six winger. The No. 9 pick could turn into a very good young center, such as Viggo Björck, but it would mean a lot more patience from Red Wings fans.

Bultman: The ninth pick would be an appealing headliner for those wanting the Red Wings to embrace a retool. Whether it’s Björck or one of the top five defensemen in the class, there should be a compelling talent available at that spot. Björck would be the one with a chance to help the center issue, though, and he did just play on a line with Lucas Raymond for Sweden at the World Championship.

Meanwhile, Luostarinen could help address some of the Red Wings’ issues in the bottom six in the short term, and with one year left on his deal, could even become a trade chip himself after what he’s done for the Panthers in the playoffs in recent years.

This package would require a longer view, and trading Larkin within the division could be fraught. But the ninth pick is a very compelling headliner.
I feel like these Larkin trade proposals are going to wear out my angry calico meme.

Larkin is excellent and he'd be a great piece to get. If you have the chance to get an elite-ish player, you try to get it. People were clowning on Vegas for going after Marner "since it wasn't a need" and made them too top heavy. It's working well for them. Having Larkin-Marchy on the 3rd line is pretty much means having three first line. And imo we need to upgrade the team and not simply roll out the same team and assume we'll be the best again.

I doubt 9th+Luo (late first at the trade deadline) would be enough to get him. I get that him limiting himself to 3 destinations affect his trade value. I'd assume 40 or 48 would go too. (they'd obviously want Lundell)

I'm unsure if Minny can truly gather a great package for him, their best asset is a goalie and Detroit is flushed with great goalie prospects. So, it does very little for them.

Agreed, I'd love Larkin here. He's scored 30 goals each of the past 4 seasons, without the amount of talent that we have here. Plus he's great defensively as well. I love Luosty, but if you can make an upgrade like that, you do it. I think Zito will push hard to get it done.

9th+Luosty+Samoskevich+#41

That would be pretty hard for Minny to beat.

No to Larkin, 5 playoff games to his name.
Is he shifting to wing?
Can he play the system Maurice wants?
He's a known diver.

Using your best trade chip for something we dont need as much as goalie and defense.

Its a dumb move, Zito, dont ducking do it.

5 playoff games .....yeah, because he's been in Detroit.

We'll figure out who plays center or wing. Most likely, yeah he shifts to wing.

I think that Larkin could be somewhat valuable to us but only for a relatively low price because of the cap and goalie situation.
He is a good finisher and could score a lot of goals if he had Barkov feeding him pucks.

I would be hesitant to trade Luostarinen as he seems the kind of guy who would sign relatively cheap 5 year extension after this year and in terms of analytics he is one of the best defensive forwards in the league.
