Future of the team is incredibly bleak

For fun, I expect IF the unthinkable happens and they blow this Marner is gone and Shanny is too. Anyone expecting more than that is probably not getting it. Could see assistant coaching changes.

They'll pay Sam Bennett 10M in UFA to come here and re-sign Knies. Robertson is gone IMO i'll guess for draft pick(s) at the draft. Kampf is gone and so is Jarnkrok if they can find takers. They will run it mostly back with Marner for Bennett + a few bottom 6 changes.

If they falter again they ask Matthews to waive his NMC and try to find a deal like.. Wyatt Johnsson + Thomas Harley for Matthews + something and retool that way

I think Robertson is gone regardless of if they lose in round 1, win the cup or anything in between.

He may get into game 6 and maybe he should.

But I don't think the outcome has ANY impact on his future

The team isn't going to rebuild anytime soon..at best we see an aggressive retool over the summer..

But a team that's traded that much draft capital + has a D core that's older and in full blown 'win now' mode is going to try and keep going for it.

The most radical summer outcome is they go spending with Marner + Tavares cap hits

Good thing our GM is known for his big free agent signings going well

Like every year since 2016. lol!

Let's be real here. We have arguably 2 prospects of any note in Cowan and maybe Danford neither move the needle. We have no draft picks because we traded them all at the TDL. 2 of our 4 core pieces are UFAs and likely to walk for nothing. We have no #1 dman, hell no #2 dman.

We have NO future. The only possible move this offseason is to throw money around in free agency. For any long time fans, we've seen this story before. We will end up paying players like Komaserk, Lombardi, Armstrong, Connolly, Clarkson, etc big money in free agency and be trash but with a cap strapped team.

There is a very real chance we have gifted Bruins another top 10 draft pick. I am nearing my breaking point with this team.
That's the cycle you finally noticed good job.

I don’t know why you’d let JT walk, where else are you going to get a 40 goal point per game man for 8 million, William could be better but 11.5 for another 7 years seems like a great deal. M &M though yeah see ya, unless they take a realistic contract next time, as in no raises
Because he's old, and despite having a career year in the regular season he's not acceptable at the 2C spot anymore?

Mostly coz he has terrible synergy with Nylander.

So who would you replace him with? He’s more than capable playing another 3 years. He’s still a top 10 faceoff guy and great on puck battles, we will never get a better player for less than 8 million. And it’s not his career year, he’s had several slightly better, he’s probably one of the most consistent players in the entire league

We're back on TOP NOW BOYS!
Shits way better now.

Even if we have to look at Friedman who brushes his hair with a hand grenade.

he was decent when he first joined and hes been good lately. this is a small beans contract and something extremely easy to deal with. nothing to worry about. maybe Matthews and Nylander shouldnt have been extended if we how to worry about small contracts like this moving forward. what we gnna do fill our team up with bargain bin players like Malgin types? some players are late bloomers if McMann continues to get better this is a great contract..... if not and we waive him no big deal

cost likely goes up the longer we wait

A discouraging performance from the boys last night. I don't know if they try to dig deep and there's nothing there to draw from or they just don't dig deep enough but failing to close that game out was pathetic. That was the worst I've seen Carolina play in years and they still punched us in the gut and stole our lunch money. Please stop extending the golden girls, they're not the answer. Let's try something different.

Looks like he's going to achieve the same results as Kyle, without being a complete twat who lacks integrity. So that's a bonus.

Yes, no congratulations have been earned.

Leafs are having a worse year, but the playoffs are his opportunity to indicate if he's moved the team forward, or as I suggested in another thread, this is his gap year where nothing matters.

Misinformation= stone cold fact.

30 shots in the 2nd? yea it's Woll's fault :biglaugh:

I don’t understand. If you want to stay a Leaf and it’s the only place you want to play, why would you play out the year to UFA?

Because your agent beat them like a rented mule the last time and told you he can do it again.

Pretty much. l hope management doesn't call his bluff next year. Letting Marner walk might also send a message to the rest of the team.

Well MM’s nickname is the Man of Steal, lol.

I'd rather win and have a shot at the cup or get the full disappointment of the playoffs than lose for a player.

Is this like Tua Tagoloveya

great signing

Timmins has been okay. He does make mistakes, but he's a 3rd. pairing defender so it isn't like we're talking Ekman-Larsson, more Justin Holl. And he's cheap.

Timmins is RFA, with Arb.

If they could sign him 3* $1.8-$2.2, probably works for everyone, and gives time for Webber/Danford/... to develop.

What, you mean he isn't going to be the next Anton Stralman? Is anyone besides me not surprised...........

Bjugstad and Brock Nelson to form a 3rd line with Domi would give us a massive boost offensively, not to mention adding significant size.

Crouse + Bjugstad would be a nice package.

Because the Metro is even worse.
