Future of the team is incredibly bleak

This management team has no vision.

Good enough is good enough.

Shanahan needed to go years ago. Absolute insanity that he tripped over himself kissing Matthews and Marner's asses.

Brings in an unqualified GM, who brought in an unqualified coach, who got absolutely schooled by a pair of RFA's who are both incredibly soft.

Very poor and stale from top down and now not nearly well positioned to improve, with no 1st round picks for the next 3 years.

Moving on from Marner has to happen, and we are losing him for nothing but cap space. Colorado got Necas out of Rantanan, but what do those guys know about winning?

We just give up 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders to chase meat like Schenn, Laughton, Boosh, and Edmundson. We hang onto meat like Reaves after we traded Connor Dewar for nothing. Turns out, when Dewar in the lineup, he can put up points. God knows we don't need any of that on our 4th line.......

Don't know what is going on with Matthews, but the sooner that Matthews-Marner is broken up for good, the better off we will be. Sucks to lose him for nothing but cap space, but those 2 do not bring out the best in each other. I don't know what it is, but if the management are too stupid to keep them seperated, than they just need a permanent break. Both bring the spoiled soft, frat-boy mentality.

I like our defence. Tanev, McCabe, Carlo are a solid core. I don't know WTH has happened to Rielly. I have never dumped on him and have always felt he was the most genuine Leaf on the team but he's not playing like he's capable of. Either something toxic has affected his give a crap, or he needs to lose weight, or he has just stopped caring, but this is a Rielly that needs to make a significant change, either to his weight or to another team.

Would like to see Rielly rebound as he finally has a decent partner in Carlo, but if this is the best he has to offer, than we do need to move off him. $7.5 million is a lot of money and it needs to be used properly.

Here is what concerns me with JT. Everything I have heard is he wants to be here because his family is here, his kids love it here. He loves playing for the Leafs. All great things.

Mariner has fight, he showed it in four nations. You know who doesn’t? Mathews. Reilly needs to go. Year after year always looking for a partner for him. His apex was the TBay series, series after he disappeared. Say what you want TBay has dogs. Point and Hagel are dogs. Janrnkrok and some of these other guys are chunks. Domi is a dog, but he has to make up for all the chumps.

Cowan is a legit point scorer on the PP. saw him live a few times and the guy makes plays. He needs to be on the second unit. We need someone that can get pucks on the net or somewhat close from the point. This is ridiculous now. That frickin noodle Reily uses is embarrassing.

Trade Mathews. Get dogs, like some mean effin dogs, sign Bennet. That dude has more dog in him that any leaf outside of Tanev. You need to be an ass **** to win, woke bs not going to cut it. Ugly, straight to the net, gloves in faces, dirty players is what I want. Get me a Tucker, a Clark mean effin dogs. Add Mariner, Nylander and a few other. Sweet Lord, more dog in OEL than half this team.

Team is built wrong and they made the wrong guy captain. Mariner is still the hardest working S O B on this team still. Doesn’t have the body to bang but with the right guys around him, he effin Keon all over again.

We're going to need C depth, it's him or Bennett. People are saying Bennetts getting 8M, he's not that guy lol. Pass on him at that price. Those are the only 2 C's really available this summer.

He's still a near PPG player and is a 2C on almost every single team in the league. He's just not worth 11M, not a bad player.

he drops to a 50 pt player in the playoffs for us , the teams done nothing with him and he'll be turning 35 in Sept so i have no idea what the obsession is with re-signing him

also he's offense is dependent on Willie or Mitch to create for him and he plays more like a winger than a C so we'll miss him as much as the Islanders did when he walked on them , which is to say he won't be missed !

I said it in the PGT but this team is completely f***ed for the short/medium term if they can't get it done this year. A terrible prospect pool and no first round picks for the next three years means there won't be significant additions via the trade market for a while. They can't tear it down because of the NMC's/NTC's and even if they could convince them to waive they'll be getting pennies on the dollar for their best players since they'll be effectively choosing their destination. Add to that parts of the core are aging or showing signs of decline with no realistic replacements in the pipeline it's likely we've already seen the peak of this group and I legitimately have worries about the future.

If people are talking about 26 & 27 draft, then I think many are being fatalistic. Toronto will miss the playoffs in 26 & 27?

He should be sent packing along with Shanahan for saying "we are not here to sell jerseys" and then allowing Shanny to run this lousy loser core back again when fans were demanding change.

At a minimum, in the summer, they should have demanded Marner give them a list of teams he was willing to waive to. Instead it was business as usual only to have him piss them off by not willing to negotiate.

If he refused they should have told him there would be no offers and limited his ice time.

I don't see how letting Marner and/or Tavares walk, replacing them with two of Nelson/Bennett/Ehlers/Boeser etc, ends up with the Leafs as a better team. Different sure, but better? I seriously doubt it.

Even our tough guys are doing it. Can't blame them watching Marner and Matthews avoiding the front of net and bailing on board battles all year long without a peep from Berube. Especially Matthews who isn't even scoring at any special rate.

He did well by not trading for rentals IMO. The problem is the core which refuses to play outside their comfort zone. He has no control over that. What I fault him for is not reading the landscape. If 34 is not 100%, he should have saved his bullets for next year.
