Yeah it's not like he scored 20+ points in his final 32 games ... definitely not even an NHLer at that clip.

Everyone who has this weird obsession with hating Jo clearly just want to shit on him for not meeting the "saviour" expectations.

Drouin still has a ton of talent - his hands, his vision and his passing are all elite. The defensive side and his refusal to shoot are his issues. He could be a great complimentary 50-60 point guy somewhere with the right deployment
After watching him the last 6 seasons, this is a stretch................he can't do 50-60 pts, he just can't.
The guy is now made of frosted crystal, and is scared of his own shadow.
Montreal was the only place he got the TOI and even then he couldn't produce.

He could catch on for 1M with another team and pick up 30 pts if he can get 60 games in, but it's not likely.
We wont talk about how bad he is on his side of centre.....

Drouin has scored 50 points just twice in his nine year career and the last time he did it was the 2018-19 season. His point totals the last four seasons have been 15, 23, 20, and 29. Doesn’t sound like “probably 50pts” to me.

It is certainly fair to question whether Drouin is able to stay healthy and play enough games to actually hit that 50pt threshold. But he's clearly capable of playing at that pace at least. Particularly if you put him in that right scenario to just "leach" off other dynamic players, with offensive zone starts, powerplay time, etc. The years where he has scored like that, are the years where he's been in a situation that "pumps up" his production in a way that gets the most out of what he can offer. If you're going to get "value" out of him, you have to play to his limitations and put him in that cozy situation to succeed. The same way Tampa did back in the day.

You need somebody like MacKinnon/Rantanen/Crosby/Malkin to really get that out of Drouin the way Kucherov did. But the skill is there to complement a star player like that and compile some points. It's not a very compelling skillset for Drouin...but it's also not a capability that just any ol' $1M player is going to offer.

He is an injury-replacement PP2 winger at this point. The League is pretty high-scoring again, there are plenty of better options out there... and most League Minimum players are doing a lot of other things to be more compelling bottom six options. Sure he'll pick up some assists if he's healthy (which is fairly rare) and getting some time on the powerplay, but if he's not on the Powerplay then what's he doing for you, giving you .399 even strength points per game over the last 4 seasons while missing a bunch of time and being a liability otherwise?. Kinda surprised there's 8 pages of discussion on this player. If he had an Anglophone last name or wasn't on the Habs everyone would just kinda realize by Age 28 there's really not much there anymore.
