Post-Game Talk: FULL VIDEO - Jacobs, Neely and Sweeney - 4/23/25

Oh. Well maybe.

Neely isn't getting a pass from me. This team has seen nothing but diminishing returns since he got here.

He wanted to fire Claude and Chi in the summer of 2011 but a certain event that summer derailed his plans.

Dude might be a one ice legend but he's given nothing from the management side worth keeping your job after 15 years of missed goals.

Especially since Sweeney and everything he's done has happened under Neely's watch.
Well he’s not going - you and me can decide what we think but he will not bring back Sweeney if he has a bad season. He will not be fired

If I hired young Chuck for my company and sat in on his first presentation and saw that, I’d be kind.

“Chuck, the groveling bit at the beginning was a definite no go. Excellent as groveling goes. But nobody likes grovelers. Knock that shit out of your playbook.

And while I admire the pivot to aggressive defensiveness — it did come kinda come out of the blue — that fell kinda flat. It was kind of impressive, but not a good kind of impressive. You know what I mean big guy? Not strong play. Let’s axe that too.

OK, the suit. Chuck, seriously. It’s a 42 Large and you are a 38 slim. Can you put one that fits on your Dad’s card?

And put on a f***ing tie. You’re not one of the boys in the pit — and you will never ever convince anyone that you are. You own the coal mine for the sake of Jesus. Don’t try and bullshit people. The do not like it.”

If that was a guy working for me for many years putting on that show????? I’d shoot myself.
Just shoot me.

Makes me wonder if Zadorov was Neely's compromise. He let Sweeney sign Lindholm as long as Neely also got the player he wanted.

My biggest take-away from this press conference is that Cam Neely cannot be allowed to continue as Team President and continue making decisions like who will be the GM after next season.

I never thought I'd say this but I'd strongly consider extending Sweeney but as both Team President and GM, with the caveat that he begins a mentoring process to groom the next GM (Evan Gold?) who would take over the GM role in a couple years. There is no question that Don Sweeney after 10 years has become a respected voice in small world that is the National Hockey League. I'd be curious to know what other hockey executives think about Sweeney having to answer to Neely.
Even worse if Sweeney is allowed to ruin the next GM as well.

they're gonna search the globe and find out the best candidate for the job was magically already in house (aka cheap), just like every other position the past decade.

it's funny how they dont accept the best period of success the franchise has had in 50 years was the one time they went outside the org for a GM (Chiarelli) and coach (Julien)
This x 10.

The way this team is run and their utter contempt for their LOYAL paying customers is tiresome.

I crossed a threshold today. I’m not even angry anymore… I’m just not willing to spend that kind of energy on this team right now. I’m just very, very tired.

I'd argue it goes back further than Neely.

Neely and Sweeney reminded me an awful lot of Jerod Mayo with the lack of accountability…

Not a good thing when players like Zadorov have more accountability than Neely/Sweeney. Just like Drake Maye was more mature as a leader than Jerod was…

Deferring blame is like Can’t Do It Rule #1 of being a leader. They made a mockery of the organization today

I know half this fan base hates him, but Swayman took accountability for his season in a way management refuses to.

You should take a nap.

Trying to pick and choose who is the 'problem' really is just semantics. They all f***ing suck.

Charlie
Cam
Donny

All should no longer be in decision making capacities
Charilie : is a business person, or the son of one . It is all about revenue

Cam: I was always told if you can not say something positive, say nothing . A great Bruin player

Don S: The Bruins are very fortunate to have him as the GM. Without him the shit show would be bigger. If he is removed , the road back will be very long. Simply put Sweeney will be raising the Stanley cup ,long before any Bruin player will. (if he is removed)

And that pretty much tells the story. Why I don’t like the management by committee is who is the real problem here? If it’s one guy, then you pretty much know and can move on. I would prefer they move Cam out of a hands on role and give Sweeney the keys to the whole thing and let him live or die by his vision for the team and how well he executes it.
I would prefer they move on from both. However, my second selection would be yours. Get Cam away from day to day operations and let Sweeney do his job.

The fact that we still don't really know who does what in that organization a decade into their tenure is ridiculous.

Also, Can't wait to see how Donnie spends to the cap with his job on the line. I wonder if he liked Cam throwing the "it takes two to tango" in his face?

you gotta be a cancel guy

Embarrassed lol
Too be fair, I was embarrassed that I got sucked into another death match between Charlie and the art of public speaking.

By this point I’d just assumed he couldn’t possibly be worse than the last time. But the boy delivers again and again and again.

Impressive, really. Still embarassing.
