Additional details on Gaudreau:

- As noted earlier it's possible Gaudreau's contract may be fully guaranteed during his cycling, TBD.
- $1m life insurance policy, per the CBA
- If the contract is not fully guaranteed he should still receive:
-- His 2024-25 salary of $7.75m is covered by insurance, per the CBA.
-- $10m in signing bonuses, $2m in each of the remaining 5 seasons on the contract.

If the contract isn't guaranteed and the signing bonuses are still due then they should hit the cap each season for Columbus. The 2024-25 salary would not count against the cap as it is covered by an insurance policy rather than paid directly by the team.

It's also possible that Guadreau took out additional contract and/or life insurance beyond that minimums provided in the CBA.
Should Toronto technically have been hit with Amirov's signing bonus this past season, then? I don't remember any cap site including that
Is that still dependent on it being "hockey related" incident?

Amirov had zero NHL games. If he had been in the AHL or on SOIR there would have been no cap hit even if his signing bonus was paid.

Even if the signing bonuses are contractually due to JG's estate, the cap hit would surely be treated as LTIR (unless CBJ chose to count it to reach the cap floor like Arizona did to Weber's contract). Obviously Columbus can report that he didn't pass his physical.

And we have an appeal. First to Bettman (who in all liklihood will uphold suspension). Then can appeal to arbitrator.

I think it should be written to disciplinary decisions which part is repeated offender part and which is not.

"Two-game-suspension is fair punishment for this incident. However, the player has been suspended twice in the past year, so the suspension is increased to four games."

So I was under the impression that according to the CBA, that if you crossed more than one time zone for an away game, the road trip had to last at least three games, or something to that effect. However, Utah is playing in Detroit tonight followed by Chicago tomorrow night before coming back home. We had last played at home against New Jersey on Saturday. In that case, am I mistaken, or are there exceptions to the rule based on how many days off you have before and/or after the road trip?

Certain provisions of the CBA might only apply to teams with real names :sarcasm: :sarcasm:
