lol... I'm sure this sort of thing is common in sports. But it's funny to see an actual clip, especially one of McDavid losing it since some have this perception that he's rather robotic.

I wonder if one of the players ripped him a new one after his shoddy Game 7 performance which cost the team a Stanley Cup?

No problem with him yelling, a leader needs to keep his team accountable. The only weird thing is everyone else in the room just going about their business and acting like he's not even there.

Maybe it's the norm in that locker-room and they just tuned him out? Happens to coaches all the time.

I see no problem with this. He's sweating hard and giving everything he's got and his voice is obviously hoarse because he cares. It's not like he's running for president, he doesn't need to be a good orator

anyone who criticizes him for this is either jealous of the Oilers for having him on their team or a panthers fan feeling the need to punch down.

I dunno, to me it came across as "I know I'm supposed to fire these guys up but I have no clue what to say"

Out goes the theory this guy has no emotion and is a boring robot. He answered that with a bang !

I was expecting more based on the title of this thread. Good on him to demand more from his team. He is a generational talent. He can't win it all by himself.

Why am I not surprised that people would shit on McDavid when they think he's a robot, but also shit on him for being passionate.

Because they Jelly of what he brings to the table. But if he was on their team?

Some of the comments here and on other sites are funny. HE goes from being called a Robot to a screaming Karen pretty quickly. People previously said he was emotionless--they see he has emotions and they laugh at that

This looks like some dude who is yelling for the first time in his life.

“Am I doing this right”

That’s a perfect way to describe it. Not McDavid’s fault, but that clip doesn’t exactly have Messier vibes. It sounded like what you get when a high school coach tells a kid to go fire up his teammates. He’s doing the best he can but it feels contrived and really not what you want to be listening to after a hard loss.

He didn't want his team to lay down and die. I mean the series should never have been 3-0 anyway but it was and he wanted more from them and for them not give up and I am sure it had some effect. Either way, they came back like very few teams before and took it right down the wire.

Yes. That’s why after that game and tirade and being down 0-3, he and the team tied the series and went to the seventh game of the SCF. Oh and he won the Conn Smythe as the MVP.

McDavid's unhinged rant was after Game #2 from what I have read earlier, so if that's the case then his rant didn't work since they lost Game #3.

"It featured Connor McDavid in the Edmonton Oilers dressing room after Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final in Florida. Edmonton had lost 4-1, and the Oilers were down two games to none in a series they would eventually lose in seven games."
