No way. They’d won games in each of the 4 tournaments prior to this one including two frozen fours. It’s HARD to win this tournament. It Motzko goes after that then there might be 3 guys in the entire country with safe jobsGotta think Minnesota gets rid of Motzko, has not done nearly enough in NCAA tourney
I guess it's not necessarily the losses in general but they have blown leads each of those years except for maybe one if I remember correct. Got to win at a program like MinnesotaNo way. Sure but there’s probably 10 programs nationally that you can say you “have to win at”. Motzko has done a fine job. If he goes now the top programs might as well be cycling through coaches every 2-3 yearsI guess it's not necessarily the losses in general but they have blown leads each of those years except for maybe one if I remember correct. I don't think I would either especially with Moore. But Seravalli has been unequivocal in his reporting that Rinzel is going to be joining the Hawks this season. I don't think he'd say what he's saying in the way he's saying it if he didn't know something.I wouldn't be upset If Rinzel and Moore stayed put another year.
Rinzel and Moore have been roomates for two years. Gotta believe that if one goes, they both go.I don't think I would either especially with Moore. Moore hasn't exactly eclipsed the college level as a scorer. He generates chances at a solid clip though, his issues are mostly with finishing and I'm not sure whether another year in Minnesota will improve that or not.Do Moore and Rinzel have anything left to prove at that level?
If not, it would be great to see them on the Hawks this year. Burn a year off their ELC's and see what happens at next years training camp.
I think that is what is going to happen.I think Moore should go back. I think Rinzel should sign.
How is Moore going to benefit from another year at Minny?Moore probably would benefit from another year and Rinzel can still add strength .and weight.
I generally agree with this. He's playing a fairly mature physical/2-way game already this season which is probably what players that age typically work on the most during their time in college/juniors.How is Moore going to benefit from another year at Minny?
I'll give it a try. I'll start with what his does really well at the NCAA level-
Face-offs. Last night he was 21-8 for 72% while the rest of his team was 18-40 for 45%. He's consistently done well in the dot.
Puck transporting. One reason he's on PP1 is to gain the zone.
Puck retrieval. Another reason he's on PP1 but this is also a positive at even strength.
Defensive play. Yes, Moore lacks hockey IQ with the puck but that doesn't translate to his defensive play.
Good hand to eye coordination with 3 slot defelections for goals this season.
Not afraid to go to the net.
The Minny PP1 ran through Snuggerud, Rinzel, and Wood with Moore mostly as a net front presence. If they don't return, Moore could be a player the PP features. His abilty to score down low needs work whether it's a one-timer, bumper shot, or rebounds. This would be an area he needs to improve. Also, f he returns he'll also get more PK responsibility. And if he returns, perhaps his decision making with the puck improves, even if on the margins. But don't count on it.
I believe he can improve the above with a year in Rockford and another year in Minny won't move the needle much.
Yeah the officiating today has been non existent. They might as well not even have officials. They don't call a f***ing thing.
