Front Row Seats - Worth It?

Nah, centre ice all the way up in lower bowl, or first line in upper bowl is sweet.

It's fun to do once. It's an experience, a perspective you could never get on tv. Just don't expect to see all/most of the action. What you do see thoug will be totally crazy.

Thanks for the replies. That's basically what I was thinking.

Not sure what benefits your arena there offers, but here at the X, if you have glass seats you get access to an exclusive bar that gives free drinks and snacks etc, and HUGE bathroom with no lines etc.

On top of that, you get the chance to get players attention for good or bad...

One time I won free on the glass seats, I was seated just at the faceoff circle - the Wild were playing the Flyers at the time and Kieth Primeau was was still there at the time... EVERY faceoff that took place right in front of me when Primeau was out there, he lined up right in front of me, so I layed into him every time yelling over the glass "PIMEAU YOU HAS BEEN!!!!!"

Little things like that can stick with you for years... I actually managed to get into a players head and affect the play on the ice... all because I won a pair of glass seats. ;)

If I could choose any seat though, it would be in the first 4 rows of the corner or the ends... no obstruction to the view and you still get that up close in the game feel.

No clue what benefits the new arena in Edmonton will have... however I doubt that many rinks in Canada are offering free beer/snacks. As for yelling at Ovechkin/Oshie/Orpik - can't wait (am a huge Pens fan). That alone might make it worth it. :D

Otherwise yeah I'm kinda thinking it'll be a one and done type of thing. Typically I'm too cheap to spend the money - however this is a brand new arena, it's Edmonton/McDavid and Washington, and I'm going with my cousin. So it should be fun. I'm basically in it for the experience. It's on the tail end of a 2 week trip that includes 2 games in TB and 2 in DAL. So (seeing how I already bought the tickets), while it will suck if the view is awful... I'm hoping the experience more than makes up for it. Typically, I sit wherever I think I can get the best bang for buck (high corner lower bowl or first row upper bowl are my favorites). But figured what the hell - you only live once right?

Ive sat in the 2nd row for a game in Buffalo and it was a good experience, very different than what you get when you sit higher. The seats I usually get are a few rows above the glass in the home corner (my employer gives away tickets quite often and I usually see at least 2 Sabres games a year).

I prefer to see the game from a little higher up to see the entire ice and the plays developing. I sat first row of the upper deck at center ice in Boston and it was probably my favorite NHL experience. It is more than worth it to sit up close at least one though, as long as its not in Toronto where you basically need to sell a kidney out front to sit that close.

Around row 15 from top of blue line to mid face off circle where your team shoots twice. i hate the bottom rows as you cannot see the patterns or flow of the game nor the play in most of the rink.

If you were a new hockey fan, I'd say to do it one time just to get an appreciation for the speed of it all.

For season tickets I would never get first row.

But it was well worth the price to do it once. The guys were so big and fast.

Lucic fought Nurse in front of us. I understand why Lucic intimidates so many people, he looked friggen huge up close.

Front row, behind the net, are my favorite seats. I've never sat front row at a NHL game but do it all the time for junior level games. Being so close to the net and being able to see the puck trickle just past the goal line or someone scores a game winning OT goal just feet in front of you is an experience you'll never forget. I do agree though that front row (well actually first few rows) on the sides are the absolute worst for sightlines

Did it once at the Bell Centre just behind the goal line, just to the left of the opposing team net (2 periods out of 3) with the tickets of the then Québec Prime Minister.

It was fun (and free)...

The Canadiens won 4-1.

Even if they aren't offering free drinks/snacks, they usually offer something pretty good at NHL arenas. You should definitely look into it before the game so you can make sure you're getting the full value of what you paid for. The benefits are usually pretty good!

I always laugh when I see an obvious newb at the X who is going up to the concourse and purchasing concessions when they can get better food for free along with not having to pay the HUGE price Stadiums/Arenas put on the beer.

As for the yelling at players... be sure to direct your yell towards the top of the glass, not AT the glass. ;)

It's awesome to be that close to the action once in a while, so for the occasional game they're sweet seats. But if I was buying season tickets I'd go at least 8 rows back.

Just ask this guy how much front row seats are worth it.

Haha, this is great.

Not first row, but I sat 3 rows back for an Isle/Leaf game in Toronto (behind the net) and I loved it. Good for a game or so, you'll have fun. But like others said, best seats are center ice, bottom of second 2nd tier.

It's an interesting experience, especially if you get a chance to interact with the players, and if you get lucky and some action happens to be right in front of you.

I agree with what most people are saying though, you can see the game better from higher up.

It's certainly worthwhile to experience the game up close, but for gawdsakes mind your P's and Q's...

I've sat three rows behind the Devils' bench in Tampa, seventh row at Nassau, and have fourth row tickets to Wells Fargo for this season. Sitting that close does have it's cons, namely struggling to see play develop at the other end, but there is nothing quite like a quality check being laid against the boards 15 feet away from your seat.

When I travel to other barns, I like to sit close and splurge. At Prudential Center, I'm an upper deck kinda guy. Always have been. (Although I do enjoy sitting in rows 10-15 of the Devils' shoot twice end at home games.)

Pros and cons. It's unique, you see things up close and differently, but you also can't see what you may be used to by watching from a higher viewpoint.

That said, I wouldn't want to sit there often but once in a while it's great. It may not be the absolute best row to buy, but I doubt you'll come out of it saying it wasn't enjoyable nonetheless.

Sitting in the first row reminds you just how bad at hockey you are.

It's worth it once or twice not the best way to see game but the best to see just how fast it's moving how hard the passes and shots are and just talented these guys are.

Front row on the ends are good, sides not so much.

Sat 1st row behind the visiting bench at the ACC, about $600 a ticket(they were free). Once the experience of having Ovechkin being 4 feet from me wore off, I found myself watching the game on the scoreboard, hard to see otherwise.

If you sit in the front row get there early, watch warm ups and enjoy the entire experience. Also, make sure to put your beer on the dasher, no way it'll get knocked into your lap, I promise. Especially if you're in the corner.

As most have said, it's a great experience, but not the best way to watch the game. But then again, if your sole purpose is to watch the game, you could just watch on TV.

sitting corner glass watching my team attack twice is my favourite, feels like your in the game. who needs to watch your team play d and get scored on
