Oilers just went through probably the toughest stretch of the season opponent wise. Fantastic work coming out of that 8-2.
Should of been 9-1 that Florida loss was brutalOilers just went through probably the toughest stretch of the season opponent wise. Fantastic work coming out of that 8-2.
Get the best players possible. FO are about 35th in terms of factors that win you or lose you games.Only if handedness matters to coaches.
McDavid only won 2 of 10 (20%) and Drai lost 13 (35%)
I think we will still go out and get a big RHC

Not how it works. They will add a player to fit a specific role and not get another J.Skinner or KakkoGet the best players possible. FO are about 35th in terms of factors that win you or lose you games.
I couldn't watch the game and reading the GDT it felt like we were getting our asses kicked. The first 10-15 pages was just shitting on Stu. Figured we were down big and was happy I didn't watch. Went to page 37 and saw that we had won in OT. WTF. Stu let in 2 goals...one of which was tipped by Drai and we are shitting on him like that....923
Was annoying seeing people shit on him in the gdt. It’s so f***ing old.

Great win, I tuned in with about 15 minutes left in the third, so I thoroughly enjoyed that one. Staying hot.
He's become such a good player, he's just a found top-4 defenseman and the Oilers are much better off because it.Somehow my biggest takeaway from last night was the reinforcement of how amazing a skater Kulak is. He was flying. To the point where he was often are best option for zone entries throughout the game, breaking through the Bruins snoozefest neutral zone system. Damn lucky to have him, and very glad he is an Oiler.
It's nuts how valuable he is. Doesn't matter who he's been paired with this year, he has been the model of consistency and made his partner's job easier, whether it's been Nurse, Emberson, or Bouchard last night. Dude is logging 20+ minutes a night. He's become such a good player, he's just a found top-4 defenseman and the Oilers are much better off because it.
In my mind it's really changed (along with Nurse's uptick) how the team views improving the blueline, it's alot less urgent and concerning, imo. It's nuts how valuable he is. 2 goals against in the first period in a year he has been bad will draw criticism. Is what it is.I couldn't watch the game and reading the GDT it felt like we were getting our asses kicked. Emberson is also helping the situation. I think my take has gone from "the Oilers need another top 4 defenseman" to "the Oilers need another bottom 4 defenseman," but I'm someone who thinks Stetcher should be the #7.He's become such a good player, he's just a found top-4 defenseman and the Oilers are much better off because it.
It gets back to the sheer lack of consistency that the annointed #1 goaltender, Stu Skinner demonstrates in his game and frankly, is one of his only consistent characteristics he does have. Last night he lost the tipped goal, he wasn’t tracking the puck well, wasn’t feeling the puck as evidenced by him fumbling around the crease for loose pucks, playing certain plays with low average positioning etc..I couldn't watch the game and reading the GDT it felt like we were getting our asses kicked. Knobs comments are often quite insightful for the game overall. Always a good listen. But on the specific topic of Stu, the first goal was “completely not his fault.”I usually go by Knoblauch's comments. He said he played well last night. People act like elite goalies rarely let in high quality chances and never let in anything else. He's also being paid 2.X million per year.
The Oilers should probably explore an upgrade to Pickard to have a 1A/1B, but that doesn't appear to be in the cards this year. I guess perhaps if Kane is on LTIR until playoffs, but I don't think there are any dramatic upgrades available at a good price.
I’ve been liking Stechers game a lot lately. His confidence with the puck and in the o-zone is growing steadily. Last night was disappointed to see a bad read on goal 2 though.Emberson is also helping the situation. I think my take has gone from "the Oilers need another top 4 defenseman" to "the Oilers need another bottom 4 defenseman," but I'm someone who thinks Stetcher should be the #7.
May McJesus have mercy on their souls. And we haven't even played SJ or ANA yet

I just emailed bet365 to make me a bet that includes Drai winning the Hart, Art Ross, Rocket as well as the Oilers winning the division. I've got $46 to use. I could see Matthews taking the Rocket and Dave-o the Art Ross...AND Vegas the division...but if not... : PSo - I'm normally not into the sports gambling thing but like - oddsmakers currently have Draisaitl winning the Art Ross at 20:1 and the Hart at 25:1.
I can't help but feel like that's easy money.
I feel like worst case you cash out a couple of months from now and double or triple your money.
Yet I was defending him from the usual falling on players that goes on here when they go through a tough stretch. With posters matter of fact telling me it doesn't matter at all what he did last season. I don't know. We're a demanding fanbase. Hyman more than earned some benefit of doubt and even at tht you could see the try was still in his game and getting chances. The 55 goals is outlier, will never happen for him again. 30-40 is good benchmarks for him.Hyman is a f***ing warrior... even when he wasn't connecting early on in the season... never a doubt that he was giving it his all and no player on the Oilers gives 100% more often than Hyman.
