I’m just trying to imagine how much better this team would be if we didn’t sign Arvidsson and Skinner. They have been huge disappointments.
Yes, but as we have seen in the past, thats hardly how the story necessarily ends.
God, it can be with the same player months apart. Sometimes even days.

Well that loss to florida sucked but this win was awesome

Edit: Also must say, with everyone ragging on skinner (myself included) 8.25M swayman had some iffy goals and the bruins fans are not happy on their board.

Had some big saves including the breakaway to pasta

Yeah, Skinner was the better goalie last night. I still think we need a better tender, but last night he was the better goalie for certain.

Felt like the team started strong, great first shift then the goal happened. Feels like this game was proof positive that goaltending, or lack of it, is mentally hurting this team. It took 20 mins for everyone to get back into the game imo.

That first goal was simply terrible, but Skinner was solid after this. To your point though, crappy goals have an overt effect on the skaters. It's a tale as old as time in a game like hockey with massive swings in emotion.

Very meh. No glaring mistakes. Got thrown around a bunch. Poor guy. Arvidsson is not built for this teams style of play. We haven't really ever succeeded with pure snipers, now that I think about it.
Arviddson is not a pure sniper. He’s like a high motor volume shooter. Small and wreckless though, which is a recipe for injury.

Meh. That shot was hitting Skinner in the stomach if Drai hadn’t tipped it perfectly too corner.

Ekholm is such a beast.

My friend ski races with his wife and when they met they were like "oh, what does your husband do?" And Mrs. Ekholm was like "he's involved in hockey."

Like no bragging. No ego. They were friends for 2 months before my friend knew that this blonde lady with an accent was married to Ekholm haha

They love Edmonton. They love winter. This guy has been the biggest beauty add to this team and city in a decade or more.

Winter is my favorite season, and its not that close either. When I tell people this, they almost always don't believe me or think I'm joking. Some people really do love winter and everything that comes with it.

Give him the rest over a dumb tournament, all good
Zack Hyman needs a bit of a break. Look at him.
Dude looks like the f***ing Revenant.

Like he fought a bear, and then on the ambulance ride home, got into a major car accident.

Last year during their 16 game streak the knock was that much of it was vs bottom dwellers. That was not really something that should have taken all that much away from the accomplishment but it was to a degree a true statement. The recent schedule has been in contrast quite challenging. At this point the Oilers have completed the most difficult part of their schedule. With 50 games left this site has the with one of the easiest schedules left:

In particular they have 13 games left with teams in the bottom 6 of the league and only 6 with teams in the top 5 and two of those 6 are with Washington, a team that I expect will at some point come back to earth.

He was garbage…again
I mean no he wasn't.

3 points back of the division lead.
I looked at where the team was last year at this time and through 29 games they were 6th in the division, 7th in the wild card and had 27 pts.

It's ok to not be completely happy with this team, they have to improve and can be better, but through 32 games they're 3rd in the division with 40 points, it's just a very good team.

Haha .. wow. Some idiot just called in to CHED and said that Skinner reminds him of Luongo and suggested that Skinner would be the ideal captain for this team if only goalies were allowed to wear the C. What the actual f***?
Good to know Canuck fans are still crushing on us to the point of calling into an after hours Oilers show just to troll. It’s like calling the ex girlfriend 5 months after you broke up, creepy. I agree, what in the actual f***!?

Planning to go to the DC game in February hopefully. Not sure if I'll make it to the Canes game or not (too much PTSD :help:).
