McLellan, Thornton and Marleau have to go, and Couture has to be made captain.

Couture ain't a captain. Heard a writer on Sirius this morning say he was in the Sharks locker room Tuesday and Wednesday and Couture looked and sounded scared to play.

....and I still somehow like your team (save Stoll and Brown) and pretty much all your posters here. Speaks a lot for your group.

Hunt those Ducks, boys.

San Jose fans must be deeply disappointed with the results yet you are gracious enough to come here with classy posts. I'm very impressed. Thank you. You've made me a fan.

He will stay in San Jose.

Also next year when we meet I hope both teams are 100% injury free.

But, how can you guys, after just watching those 7 games, put blame on Marleau over other Sharks players. There were maybe 3 Sharks better than him

Its not that guys like Marleau and Thornton are the reason you lose, its that they are the reason you don't win. They don't put the team on their backs when it counts the way kopitar, Williams, doughty and quick can. They don't have that next gear and never will.

Gracious in defeat. Much respect. I really think the problem lies with Thornton and Marleau( whom I really like and think would be a great fit here in LA) Great players but neither are killer instinct type of guys. Personally believe the Sharks should trade Thornton and Marleau.

I hate the Sharks team because they have been the older brother to the Kings for 10+ years. Obviously the Kings have been around much longer but the Sharks have been a good team for going on 10+ years now. But now that the Kings can compete with them and in the past few years even beat them (in the playoffs), you can't help but feel bad for the fans of the team. I really do. I hate Ducks fans and certain Ducks players. I hate the Sharks when the Kings play them because they are good. That is envy. But I've never hated Sharks fans. I've had a few bad run ins over the years but for the most part they are reasonable and dont' have a chip on their shoulder like the Ducks fan.

I saw somebody post this on Yahoo but they mentioned they missed the days of Sharks teams that lacked in skill but with lots of heart when Ricci, Damphouse and Nolan were there. I reminded him that is when Dean Lombardi was GM. Kinda ironic...

If it makes you feel any better, I fear the Sharks astronomically more than the Ducks.

This.

The Sharks are deeper and have better goaltending. The only difference last night really was Quick came up with the unreal save and Niemi couldn't.

I am very pleased the Kings advanced but I took no joy in seeing the sadness on the faces of the Shark players and their fans. I respect the Sharks and would have jumped on their bandwagon if they won the series. I don't like the new playoff format, and would much rather see the Kings and Sharks face each other in the WCF.

Congrats. I hate your team with a passion but I respect the hell out of their tenacity. Putting injuries and terrible officiating aside, you guys deserved this series. Also, Please don't try to return the courtesy of complimenting the sharks; they all deserve to be tar and feathered. Enjoy the semis. I'm going to go drink myself to sleep (don't judge).

I seriously wasn't expecting a post like this. The Sharks are my second most hated team (Phoenix being number 1). That comes from the playoff rivalry. From fan to fan, you are pure class. I think you are better man than me, in that I wouldn't have been able to post something like this on the other teams' forum. Respect!

Also, Sharks are a great team, seriously. They scare me almost as much as Chicago.

*cheers*

Sharks have great fans on these boards, there's no denying it. I think we all agree it sucks that we had to play each other in the first round.

I had the Sharks in the SCF if they made it past the Kings. How often do two legitimate Stanley Cup contenders meet in the first round?

Ditto. Well said.

A month or so ago one of the Sharks forum mods came in here and told me I was full of it for asserting that the Sharks will never win with Thornton at the helm.

I rest my ****ing case.

The sooner he and Marleau are shown the door and Couture is given the C, the sooner they'll get that franchise back on track.

You were proven right, there is no question about it. There is just no defense for either player at this point. A blown 3-0 lead, 2 goals total for SJ in the final 3 games and the ineptness on the PP fall squarely on their shoulders. Certainly guys like Couture and Pavelski came up small too, but Thornton and Marleau have been the constants in SJ over the years and they have failed time and time again.

He will stay in San Jose.

Marc Eduard Vlasic is a great defenseman, but you guys blew a 3-0 lead and scored 2 goals in the final 3 games, including 1 goal total in two home games.

Injuries didn't matter.
