Sat Shah (Canucks radio host) seems to think $5M to $5.75M AAV over 5-6 years. AVP Analytics are projecting 5 years $5.85M AAV.
He's definitely getting more than that with how the cap is going to skyrocket.

That would be a steal with where the cap is headed.Sat Shah (Canucks radio host) seems to think $5M to $5.75M AAV over 5-6 years. AVP Analytics are projecting 5 years $5.85M AAV.
Him and his agent are close with management and he's taken team friendly deals in the past. Still think he's landing somewhere between 6x6 and 7x7.He is going to get north of 7M, and everybody is going to lose their minds because they haven't yet adjusted their expectations to be in line with where the cap is heading.
He's a 28 year old UFA top pairing D and now the cat is out of the bag about the cap exploding over the next 3 years. The only thing going against him is that he is a lefty.
Figure it will begin with a 6. Question is going to be the protection. Hronek had 1 RFA year left, then NMC for the next 3, then a MNTC for the final 4 seasons.6x6 would be a good team friendly deal. Maybe 7x6.5 on the top end.
If it's higher than $6 million it's ugly early and averages out. $5.75 million is the sweet spot
Thats good or else what we gave up to get him would have been insane if we lost him in free agency.
All of y'all are underestimating how much UFAs are about to get paid this year.

Frank Seravelli just said on Vancouver radio he thinks mid 5 AAV and key thing will be term (with that being said I think he's a lot lower on MP than others I've heard). He's definitely getting more than that with how the cap is going to skyrocket.
Marcus Pettersson is 29 in May, so 8 years takes him to 37. I think Van would like to end it at age 35 if they can (6 years). See what the numbers come down to.Not sure what he gets but get him locked down for 5 plus years please if not the full 8.
I hear you with the age factor but to get him to sign and maybe lower the cap hit need term. We need to surround Hughes while we have him and every penny counts. We see what happens but nice to have another legit top 4 guy.Marcus Pettersson is 29 in May, so 8 years takes him to 37. I think Van would like to end it at age 35 if they can (6 years). Kind of feel with what happened with the Canucks being handcuffed in the Miller trade and then trading the NY first away for a UFA rental that $5.75 million for 6 years would be the kind of gift they've earned. With how much the cap is rising, 5.75M wouldn't be the "sweet spot" but an absolute gift.
Key takeaway is that Rutherford once mentioned he owed Pettersson for taking a team friendly contract that is now expiring when he signed him before he quit and took his take out menus to Vancouver, so he will definitely get paid this time around if Marcus and his agent kept that comment in mind and JR has anything to say about it. They freed up some cap and the cap is also going up, so I would suspect around 5.5-6m or under 6m/yr, likely giving up some $ for term and a modified NTC for the first few years, etc.Him and his agent are close with management and he's taken team friendly deals in the past. Imo if the cap hit is in the 5s then he's asking for the full 8 years.Frank Seravelli just said on Vancouver radio he thinks mid 5 AAV and key thing will be term (with that being said I think he's a lot lower on MP than others I've heard).
Isn't Frank the guy who said in his blog that MP struggles with the first pass out of the zone and in transition? Lol dude doesn't know a lot.Frank Seravelli just said on Vancouver radio he thinks mid 5 AAV and key thing will be term (with that being said I think he's a lot lower on MP than others I've heard).
Best case Scenario - 6x5
Worst case Scenario - 7x4
Okay Case Scenario 6.5x7
He is not a fan.Isn't Frank the guy who said in his blog that MP struggles with the first pass out of the zone and in transition? Lol dude doesn't know a lot.
