$6.5x7 seems like a lot at face value, but it's probably fair in this new exploding cap world. He's a very good #3 but I wouldn't be thrilled to pay my #3 that much.

Seemed obvious from the jump that he was going to get re-upped and if that takes a big bag of money so be it.

With the massive cap increase a 7MM aav wouldn't shock me. If they keep the term to 5 or less that's good for the Canucks. If the term is 7 or 8 they got jobbed. 7MMx6 is more than I would want to pay, but probably what you need to pay to lock him up before July 1st.

The other recent comp that comes to mind for me is Brett Pesce. Slightly older and with a little more health/durability uncertainty...but in a similar vein, plus the RH shot bump. And he rang in at just $5.5M. So that gives me a little bit of hope. But i'm fully expecting it to be a million more than that deal...for a variety of reasons. Canada tax, cap spike, less apparent durability risk, etc.
