What will the new extension look like? i think it falls below Hronek..

6/7 years at 6.5 mil AAV? must be nice for these upcoming UFA's to be dealing with a higher cap.

Dhaliwal: He spoke with Marcus Pettersson's agent and he says both sides know its going to be a long term deal and that he expects something to get done very soon.

Friedman: " I believe the Canucks are getting to UFA Marcus Petteron's agent pretty quickly here on an extension.

If he were still on the Pens, I'd wanta 5-6yr, $5.5mil per year deal. Makes me think he'll get a 7yr deal for $6.25mil per year.

About what a dman of his caliber should be getting with the new cap numbers.

This guys is such a stabalizer on D. Canucks have been looking for a Tanev replacement since Tanev left. Here he is.

7x7 49mil is the ballpark id guess too..... Hopefully a tad below that.

normally, I'd recommend waiting til end of the year to see if he fits our system, but with "dragon" I think he simple game will work like Tanev does in different systems. On top of that, the guy is tough and durable, management knows him as a good locker room guy (cant believe I have to factor this in), his age fits, and really he fills the most glaring hole that was never filled after Tanev's departure. LFG Allvin!

6.5*6 will be ideal.

6.5, 7. I wanted to be like what the f*** are people smoking, but that's right the cap is going up and projected to be fairly significant growth, so those numbers make sense.

On 32 thoughts Friedman said it's likely, so I guess he upgraded that stance already ?

This is Marcus Petterson we are talking about.

Damn Devon Toews at 7.25 million sure looks f***ing good right about now.

The cap projections came out after Toews signed his contract.

Toews' contract was 8.68% of the total cap when signed, that same percentage for a contract starting next year would be around $8.3m per season.

My goal of 7 or under will be 7.32% of the cap next season, equivalent to $6.25m per season when Toews signed his contract.

All contracts look more palatable as they progress, that's how time works.

It's certainly gotta come in under Hronek's number...but beyond that, with the cap jump, who really knows what deals for these sort of defencemen are going to look like. It's probably going to look ugly, but then everyone else in that echelon will sign their deals and everyone will realize that's just the new cap reality. :dunno:

Best case Scenario - 6x5
Worst case Scenario - 7x4
Okay Case Scenario 6.5x7

Bad agent move, Devon should be making more honestly.
But also wanted to stay in a winning market I am sure had a lot 2 do with it

A lot of guys are fine taking the money for security.

Beats being Klingberg and turning down $58M only to turn around, get hurt, and probably never have another chance at a big contract.
