Columbus needs to rebrand to the Columbus Cannons. Blue Jackets is such a dumb name in a league where there already is a storied team called the “Blues”.

The Detroit helmet is meh, but as far as the uniforms, both are done extremely well. Better than most

I like the name, blue jackets. It’s unique.

I’m not fond of these jerseys though. Can’t put my finger on why. Good idea. Something with the execution seems off.

Can't think of too many Jackets fans who would agree with you there. I love the name Blue Jackets. It's unique. Cannons is an EA sports generic team name.

But, calling them the cannons as a nickname would be kinda cool. Like soccer teams seem to have like 3 nicknames.

Agree about the CBJ logo. I don't mind Detroit's stripe, looks kinda old school like football helmets from the 40's or 50's. Can't say I'm a fan of "Hockeytown" on the pants though, clashes with the whole "classic" vibe of the rest of the uniform

Speaking of football, I'm sure this is blasphemy, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Wings play a game in blue and silver during the Lions playoff push... Or maybe save it for if they win the SB

The best alternative would be a total rebrand from top to bottom, to get away from that cursed brand identity.

Just about any combination of name/colors/uniform would be better than what they’ve been rolling with.

Detroit's are nice, glad they didn't do anything extreme

Columbus' are pretty good too, although they remind me of Seattle's
 
I like the Jackets more than I expected. It seems with these stadium jerseys, there is a design requirement to make all logos and numbers larger to allow for the viewer to see them from further away than the typical arena.
I am not a huge fan of any of the stadium jerseys because of that, but I think the CBJ is about as good as you can expect.
The Wings one looks good, but I like simple designs and they usually only work with two colors

Idk i think Blue Jackets is a good name, distinctive and ties into the regional history. Their overall color scheme and logos could definitely stand to be upgraded though. Columbus Cannons kinda sounds like an MLS team, not a fan.

It would probably still look too busy, but I'm wondering about an Ohio flag, but with the stars and roundel in the triangular field replaced with a cannon.
 
Eh, Detroit's is rather plain, and that cannon is way too big..

Still waiting for a team to put their logo on the back and name/number on the front. We're running out of ideas here
 
I think Columbus needs a different main logo. Their current main logo is kinda average, it gives off major secondary logo vibes, like it would be better as a shoulder patch.

A main logo around a cannon would be cool but it would need some flare with it. Their chest logo with these jerseys is okay but is kind of basic.
 
Can we just let the CBJ have their day? They finally get a cool thing and a bunch of people are saying they need to rebrand. Nah.

These are nice jerseys, as far as I can tell they have absolutely no interest in rebranding to the dogshit, bland “cannons” and let’s just enjoy this instead of turning into a festival of bitching as per usual. Cannon is a cool third jersey/logo idea.

Anyways, I love both jerseys.

Aside from that, the jersey seems solid. I actually like the thin stripes that have been part of CBJ's identity since their switch away from the originals. I would not call that piping, as long as it runs horizontal at the waist and/or elbows, or vertical from collar to cuff, it's just a normal stripe, but thinner than most teams use. Looks sleek, imho. :thumbu:

I think a decent alternative would be some sort of civil war themed military chevron/patch with a C and either a cannon below it with wheels or two crossed cannons. It's like a roundel but not the generic circle.

It’s almost like this thread is attracting people with strong opinions on branding, and the Jackets have a brand in need of a makeover.
