Gross. Unless we are looking to go with the 12 left wing offense, then go for it.Let "Matt Martin Watch" commence....
Way too much noise around Vegas and Pietrangelo for it not to happen
With regard to Matt Martin...
Mike Johnston said it best just moments ago on SiriusXM NHL Morning Skate..
‘You simply cannot pay more than $1 million for 4th line players. Your 4th line needs to be comprised of young players and/or ELCs and Vets on the league minimum.’
So anything more than that $1 million for Matt Martin is a disaster
But Lemieux is more of an investment. He still falls into the young player category that you are hoping can continue his development. Even if his ceiling is not exponentially higher than what it is right now. And he adds that physical element to the makeup of the team again while still hoping he can round out his game more. Matt Martin is just nothing but a physical player who isnt a very quick skater and has hands of stone despite the outlier of production he showed in the playoffs this year, which were really odd goals tbhhes 100% right. In this climate that salary cap and then looking at what we have up front there’s no way you can afford to pay those guys any real money. Just can’t. This is why I mentioned few months back I’m not sure how Lemieux stays much longer. He’s already making 925k. Are you going to pay him much more than that? I don’t see how you can let alone sign another guy like Martin at 2 mil plus

The Islanders’ Matt Martin fits that description, but the Rangers are not expected to be in the hunt for the 31-year-old.
