Anybody still thinking the Rangers aren’t tanking? I’m still waiting for the screenshot of Kovalchuk signing with the Rangers. This rebuild isn’t going to be quick.

I don't think there was any doubt that we were talking to Kovy and had interest in signing him, but Gorton wasn't going to budge and give him more than 2 years. Just because he ended up signing in LA doesn't mean Gorton didn't want him.

That said, I don't think that signing Kovy or any other player to a short term contract is in any way indicative of us not being committed to the rebuild. I think it's just a sign that Gorton wants to surround the kids with quality vets.

I could not be happier that we didn’t give MCD or JT those deals, rebuilding or not. Both are going to be very ugly imo.
