LD is certainly a problem. But there's no need to replace Trouba. His replacement is already on the roster. Any decent, boring vet on a cheap deal to be RD 3 is fine.

If you plan to run Jones as the 3rd pair ld next year then you can throw just anyone on his right side. That would be foolish and set him up to fail

I don't really feel all fussed about not going big on UFA signings but missing on something like the Chychrun trade is tough...

Basically there needs to be some kind of plan. This team needs a top six player, a top 4 D, and maybe also a solid bottom six player. Shuffling around shitty 4th liners or 3rd pairing players in a misguided effort to bring in toughness isn't gonna do shit. Rangers tried to ice a 4th line of shitty castoff players last season and it sucked terribly for most of the year. Stop focusing on the shit that doesn't make an impact.

So yeah, they need to get some trades lined up or something as the summer goes on.
