Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals [MOD - Stay on Topic] 5

Serious speculation on my part, but I wouldn't put it past Andlauer to make an arena announcement tomorrow. I get the SENSe he's seriously passed about the forfeited 1st not being disclosed prior to the sale and is looking for ways to upstage Bettman any chance he gets. Loved the Ullmark announcement an hour prior to the start of game 7 of the SC final last year!
They still need to agree on the $/acre and the cleanup is mixed in with that.

Why do people want to pay massive assets for a rental of the MacKinnon merchant?
Rantanen not working out very well in Carolina shouldn’t equate to him being a MacKinnon merchant. It’s a tiny sample size for one, but chemistry and fit is a real thing, so really the discussion revolves more around whether you think he’s the right fit for Timmy.

I also don’t think anyone wants to pay massive assets for him as a rental. People seem to mostly want him on an extension.

I didn't say they were bad, I'm saying they're not going to make us better if we flip Norris or Pinto or Batherson for them.

You don't trade a potential 30 goal center who plays in all situations who has a clutch factor for a decent top 6 player from a garbage team.
You are using words like “not bad” & “decent” versus “good”. Buffalo are clearly not a good team. Doesn’t mean they don’t have good players such as the two that I bolded (pointed out) from your post. Your evaluation are questionable (imo), but of course, people are entitled to their opinions./

"All hands on deck for tomorrow" would lead me to believe that it'd have to be more than a simple trade for a rental or player with term. When you make a trade like that, you agree, have the trade call, and announce. There's not usually preparation for the next day.

A sign and trade though?

Ottawa could have agreed to a trade with a team earlier today, and they are now working on the extension with the player. They're confident it'll get it done, so they'll announce the trade tonight and then do the whole "new player walks into building, meets teammates, signs contract" social media video tomorrow morning. Get the interns in!

Which leads me back to Ryan Donato. I mean, when Staios reads stuff like this about effort, professionalism and leadership, he has to take a shower:

Forget trading for Ryan Donato. Trade for Connor Bedard. :sarcasm:

Idk, “I’ll elaborate more after the weekend” doesn’t feel like a Ryan Donato trade and extension. What is there to elaborate on?

"Would Josh Norris count as a big move?" Seravalli asked. "That's the guy that they want to move. That's the guy that they've been in conversation with teams to move.

It's been reported for a year or so by pretty much all insiders that they were looking to move him

Friedman during talks about Vancouver mentioned the Nucks may be looking his way and Sens may be looking to move on

I think Norris is our most moveable piece that would get us the nicest return but I doubt that we want to move him, rather he's our most valuable asset that we could move, so we are thinking about it.

Sens have never been big at the trade deadline.

Who are their biggest pickups the past 25 years?

Cullen?
Commodore?
Sutton?
Comrie (x2)
Bondra?
Saprykin?

It was Stillman in my opinion pretty easily.

I think if they get anybody at the dealine tomorrow, it's going to be guys less than the grouping above

How Keith Tkachuk orchestrated the trade?

Don't forget Tommy Barrasso.

I just don't see teams placing much value on a guy who is overpaid, and also a gigantic injury liability for the team, who is also making 9.5 in real dollars. He's missed 130 games over the past 3.5 years, teams are going to bake that liability risk into his value

Like, something unusual happening tomorrow apparently.

Can’t go into the details of it, but let’s just say all hands on deck.
You had said that we had an extension for Giroux ready to go. Could it be that they are gearing up to announce that?

Could be a nice "well no trades today but we got this" for tomorrow.

I’m half expecting this to be something no one is happy about because the words “interesting” and “unusual” and “I’ll elaborate more after the weekend” don’t feel particularly thrilling to me.

But who knows, I might be reading too much into it.

Maybe Matinpalo convince Rantanen lol

My guess for Benjiv rumor
Peterka
Karlsson
Marchand
Or if its go big or stay at home time, then might as well add Rantanen to the list.
I'm not excited about anything that isn't here beyond this season. No interest in a rental unless it's cheap, which mostly means a next to useless warm body.
Who knows what will happen, but I see the potential for some people being disappointed.

Of all those guys, Sutton had the best line, "are you an expert"?

Barrasso had some good lines too. "Do you want me to stop the ones going wide too".

Garroich said a couple times they will talk when the time is right to figure out an appropriate paycut but he doesn’t expect Giroux to leave

Maybe they're flying in Ryan Donato's dad, famous Sens alumni Ted Donato, to make the announcement. That'd be unusual. #28 is available, they could do the jersey handoff and everything. What a nice, interesting story to share on the socials.

*Whoops I forgot about Giroux. They could use a new number.

I don’t think Garroich and Benji are correct with Giroux being a lock to stay or that a contract is close.

I know someone close to Giroux family and his kid is a big Edmonton fan so never say never plus he wants to win so we’ll see.

Ottawa is possible I’m sure but keep an eye out with regards to Edmonton if negotiations go sour with Ottawa.

Four teams told Postmedia that the Senators had indicated they were trying to make a “bigger deal.”

If that’s the case, it’s likely centred around forward Josh Norris, who scored his 20th goal of the season in Wednesday’s 4-3 overtime victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Norris’ name has surfaced on the trade market in the past few days because other teams are looking for help in the middle and Staios isn’t opposed to moving his $7.95-million cap hit through 2026-27.

Again, though, this might be the kind of deal Staios opts to circle back on in the off-season. He didn’t make a trade with the Boston Bruins for goalie Linus Ullmark at last season’s deadline, but Staios did some groundwork then and acquired Ullmark before the draft.
