Norris was on the worst/one of the worst team every year of his career until this season…

Any one of those guys were up for Norris (they wouldn’t be) you’d drive him to the airport and pay his carry on.

With Norris in the lineup, Ottawa actually has a pretty good record over the past few years.

His (and Pinto's) issue has been time missed. But with both of them on the ice, we're well above .500.

Buffalo is much worse.

Peterka and Tuch are one thing, but no one ripping Norris and his contract should be praising Cozens.

Given the rumours we're looking for a fighter who can drop the gloves instead having to have Brady do it, do we put in a claim for Reaves?
Only one fight this season. I don't think he's all that interested in doing the job anymore.

I think they'll go a different route. Maybe McCarron. Maybe Ross Johnston.

Lmao, Norris has been injured the past few seasons. Go take a look at the Sens record when all of Stutzle, Norris, and Pinto are in the lineup. You've got a 30 goal 2nd line center that is good defensively and kills penalties and you want to trade him out for the worst team in the conference's 2nd line center?

Cozens is one of the worst forwards in the league defensively, go take a read at how Buffalo fans talk about him.

Things seen as a negative:

Significantly worse player.

I find it hilarious that Peterka, Tuch, and Cozens keep getting thrown around on this forum as players to target. These guys make up the worst team in the Eastern Conference, and somehow trading out someone like Norris or Pinto for one of them is going to make our team better? I highly doubt it.

You'd think if Buffalo had all these golden assets they'd be a much better team.

Weird reasoning. If we followed your logic this would mean a guy like Dahlin is not a legitimate top-15 dman in this league, which he very much is despite captaining a losing team.

Particularly when you’ve got former NHL’ers like Gazdic and Armstrong going on about how the team earned an acquisition during the intermissions.

Earned an acquisition by barely beating the two worst teams in the league and losing to the Caps?

They haven't earned a damn thing based on their play after the 4 Nations.

Should consider themselves lucky to get a warm body added for the 4th line.

Not with that contract.
If the Sens are looking for someone to take on that role in particular there aren't a lot of options. Mathieu Olivier just signed an extension. I guess there is a chance a guy like Matt Rempe could be acquired but it seems unlikely that the Rangers would want to part with him. Deslauriers is probably available but his cap hit is higher than Reaves.

Wonder if we claim Riley Stillman with Kleven out for weeks.

Gritty LD that played a prominent role on Staios' championship Hamilton Bulldogs teamback in 2018.

Wow that's surprising. How has he managed to play in 40 games without doing the one thing he's there to do?

So they've got a top 15 dman, three legit top 6 studs that are better than our 2nd line center (not to mention Tage Thompson), and yet they are a garbage team that shows no improvement and loses every single year. They have all these guys and they're not even remotely competitive this year. Care to explain why?

Maybe you're overrating other teams players simply because they're not Ottawa Senators. Don't be a Dorion. These guys have the green light to do whatever they want on the ice, they're not trying to be a serious winning team that plays a committed two-way game. You're not going to take any one of those guys and seamlessly plug them into our top 6. Every one of them would have to learn how to play committed two-way hockey, which is something they've never done in their careers. You seriously think Dylan Cozens learns to play defensive hockey (this is one of the worst defensive forwards in the league) while still maintaining his production on a new team? Very wishful thinking.

Staios has put himself into a position where we can't make many splashes and can only make depth moves that are bargain bin dealing. He's going to be shat on for being inactive or for acquiring anyone, but he has to be fine with that given the capspace he spent on in the off season.

Really hopes he stays away from guys like Reaves who'll make our cap worse and can't do anything on the ice that will help us win games. Just stay the course and see what this roster can do. Forget what plugs in the media say about how our roster has 'earned' an acquisition. They haven't earned jack shit given how crap they've played at times.

The biggest deadline acquisition this team can make is moving Norris onto Timmy's wing, moving Pinto to #2 center and moving Greig to #3 center.
That 1-2-3 punch down the middle of Stützle, Norris, Pinto is one of biggest strengths of this team and it's one area where we actually have an advantage over most other teams in the league. I wouldn't break it up, it's one of the things that's winning up games. Look at what happened when both Norris and Pinto got injured.
