6'6, 227lb with some talent. Has always been more of a skilled guy than a grinder and may be underutilized playing on the Bruins' 4th line mostly.

Really not sure what he'd be worth. Maybe a 3rd?

I would think that Justin Brazeau and Brett Leason would be viable trade targets for the Sens. The Sens don't have a lot of cap space and they haven't put themselves in the best spot in the standings, so it is more difficult to try to justify a bigger acquisition. Trade prices also seem a bit high given the Tampa - Seattle trade and others.

Brazeau is 6'6 227 lbs and Leason is 6'5 220 lbs. They can both play depth roles but might have the versatility to play support roles on other lines. Leason is a decent penalty killer and can score some short handed goals, and Brazeau offers some more scoring depth and an option on PP2.

Brazeau's cap hit is $775,000 and Leason's cap hit is $1,050,000.

They likely wouldn't cost much to acquire and would push Gaudette and Highmore down the depth chart or replace their roles entirely.

Clarke is an awkward skater, I’d take Yak over those 2, Yak was able to put up 2 goals and 5 points in 3 NHL pre season games, maybe he’s one of those guys that play better with better teammates.

Ok, but Clarke isn't hitting his potential and if he's being actively shopped, this probably means LA mgmt doesn't think he'll get there at all. Yak has shown his game is well suited for the NHL so I'd rather wait for him to play here before shipping him out for a kid who may top out as a decent #3.

Points are only one part of the equation. Yakemchuk is 6’4 and will probably end up playing at 215-220lbs. He’s got a mean streak in him.

He’ll always hand his hands and shot, but I think this year the team has asked him to really focus on his defense. And from what I’ve heard he’s developing really well and is getting to play on a really good Calgary team.

They think he can become an Aaron Ekblad type guy (pre-injuries). Big, strong, but can also put up 15-20 goals from the back end in a season.

I like Brandt Clarke, but he’s much more of a finesse, pure offense guy.

Ducks fan but Sens sympathizer here. I think Leason would be an ok add for the reasons you've outlined but I'd also honestly like to see the Sens do a little better if they are going to bother adding. Leason is inconsistent and just doesn't have that motor or grit to really make the best of that size. He has great reach and a good stick, occasionally shows some flashes of sneaky skill. The consensus among Ducks fans would be that we'd like to upgrade Leason to someone with more oomph to their game or at least more standout qualities.

I wouldn't move Yakemchuk.

Jensen is going to be 35 next year and Zub 30.

It's easier to find a scoring winger than a top 4 RD with Yakemchuk's profile. Plus Peterka will be looking for what, $6-7M on his next deal this summer? Maybe more?

Yakemchuk could be an impact player for us on an ELC.

It's an unfortunate situation. We can't afford to trade picks and we have nothing, as you say, other than players we don't want to move to make things happen. Norris? Sure, but what's his value? Batherson, I would advise against that right now as we need more scoring, not less.

The only thing we can do is rebuild the cupboards and it is going to take a while.

We are kind of functionally a modern expansion team: decent roster but no prospects and we are losing one of our next two 1st round picks!

The only reason I could see us trading a 1st/Yakemchuk is if Brady says "make a trade to help the team or trade me".

I also don't really think Brady wants out. Not yet at least. Considering everything, we are doing ok: we are in March and while I don't buy the "easy schedule" BS, the oddmakers give us a solid chance of making the playoffs.

I wouldn’t, the prospect pool becomes even worse. I’d rather keep the high draft pick RD player, they are hard to get,

It's a crazy price, but you have to consider that Bjorkstrand has a year left. They could flip him next year to recoup assets, or keep him as an own-rental.

I also think they probably could re-sign Gourde at a nice cap hit because of his drop in production, history with their team, and the tax advantage.

Does the Devils "re-engaging" the Senators about Norris now that Hughes is out for the season seem logical? I figure maybe I could lie and say that Palat for Norris was discussed in the offseason, but the trade protection was a hurdle, and with the high prices at the TDL, the rising cap, and Hughes out - the Devils might be willing to move different pieces.

I have to throw in a non-sensical name that makes no sense like Curtis Lazar. It is in the handbook because it makes your rumours seem more real if you report something that isn't reported elsewhere "Travis Green loves Curtis Lazar, but there are questions about whether Lazar would be happy about returning to the city that gave up on him." - "The Devil's not so secretly hope to get in on the Brady Tkachuk sweepstakes, and adding Norris could make them a preferred destination for Tkachuk."

I'm thinking Siegenthaler, Lazar, and a protected 1st for Norris (with retention), JBD, and a 3rd - then the Senators plan to turn around and use that 1st on a big fish rental to really put them over the top, like Ryan Donato.

If he is willing to sign there now, I wonder if Clarke could be a piece in a trade to Carolina.

It's hard to gauge his value or what exactly they would want for him. Not having a 1st to deal makes it difficult. I mean, we can technically deal our 1st, but it would be an absurd thing to do given it would result in us giving the league a 2026 pick with no protections.

I think it has less to do with Clarke's failures as a player and more to do with Rob Blake and Jim Hillier being the biggest dinosaurs in the league.

They are basically the GM and coach equivalent of our scouting staff. They've been basically trying to coach the offense and creativity out of him all year.
