Tanev is scoring at a 24 point pace and can play on the PK. Wonder what he'll go for. Best Ottawa could offer is a 3rd and JBD
I agree but would add and/or express it a different way. If we either trade Norris or move him to wing, it weakens the Senators down the middle. Having Norris as #2C and Pinto as #3C is better than Pinto #2 & Greig #3. Maybe they think Norris is too injury prone and want to move him. I can understand that. But, imo, unless they acquire an equivalent center to Norris, we can strengthen our roster by adding a good winger, but our center position would be downgraded by either trading Norris or moving to wing.Yeah, the problem imo is the lack of superstars and lack of depth.
Maybe if you have injury prone players but a few superstars that can take over a game regularly it doesn’t matter so much. When Matthews gets hurt in Toronto they keep things moving because Marner and Nylander can pick up the slack. Alternatively if you have a lot of depth, those players can take on bigger roles that help you win.
We don’t have either. It’ll only work if some of our players elevate, we get more in our system or we gain enough cap space to fix the depth. Or all of the above.
I want them to try Norris on the wing because if it works, I think it would be easier to try and find a driver for the third line (whether it’s a wing or center doesn’t matter much to me, Greig can fill either role, but shouldn’t be the best player on the line) than it is to find a player with Norris’ skill set.I agree but would add and/or express it a different way. Full health ok low. You're not wrong. But what are the odds this team will be at full health for an extended period? I think that's the biggest issue - every team has to deal with injuries, but man, it sure feels like the Sens deal with more. And on top of that, no depth to speak of to draw upon. And on top of THAT, no cap to use even if there was. For those reasons, this roster doesn't work.
Norris is reaaalllyy the only one.Ok but the majority of the big role players on this team have a documented history of missing large amounts of games to injury every season. If you’re waiting for them all to stay healthy for a full year you’ll be waiting forever. This isn’t an anomaly, it’s to be expected.
Cousins is out too, who's been a solid bottom 6 player this year, and doesn't help with the lack of depth at the moment.Full health ok low.
But right now these injuries are abnormal.
Top winger and centers 2 and 3 are out. Those are big big injuries all at the same time
being avaliable to play is a skill. Constantly being out of the line up year after year is def an issueWe were third in the division at one point with Norris as second line C. Saying things don’t work is just false. These team at full health works
I agree, but this is what so many of us have feared - Norris and Pinto unable to stay healthy. Might not be their shoulders this go around, but wouldn't that be worse than if it was?Full health ok low.

Matthews plays over 70 games each year. If Norris was able to do that then sure no problem.Yeah, the problem imo is the lack of superstars and lack of depth.

Not reading much into it but Seravalli added Peterka to his trade board:
If ever he gets moved it’ll be in the offseason if they can’t agree on a deal
i would do this. We can actually fit in his contract now and have room to extend him toowonder what he would cost but this is the perfect winger for timmy. He at the perfect age, buddies with timmy, plays on the wing and is a true top 6 forward.
1st plus Ostapchuk?
we really ain’t got shit to trade.
They had a ton of forward injuries earlier this year and were still winning games so that’s why I referenced them but you’re right.Matthews plays over 70 games each year. If Norris was able to do that then sure no problem.
I agree that Toronto can fend off injuries better but their top guys are usually in the lineup.
I think the larger issue is that Pinto and Norris have both mist significant time and usually at the same time. Maybe in a small stretch you can overcome it but they just miss too much time. Pinto is alteast somewhat understandable with the suspension but Norris is the 2C and we need him for 70+ games a year for how much money he makesThey had a ton of forward injuries earlier this year and were still winning games.
The argument isn’t whether you think the Sens should be rolling along with all these injuries like it’s nothing. It’s that a better team finds a way to go 1-2-2 or 2–3-0 or whatever it is instead of 0-5-0.
Anyway, we are what we are, which is a bubble team. We are better than we were last year and we might still make the playoffs. But we have also been pretty lucky with our top guys this year and could easily have more injuries next year so you also have to factor that in.
wonder what he would cost but this is the perfect winger for timmy. He at the perfect age, buddies with timmy, plays on the wing and is a true top 6 forward.

Assuming they come back tomorrow and stay in the line-up, they will have both played 70+ games this year.I think the larger issue is that Pinto and Norris have both mist significant time and usually at the same time. Yes we do have valuable assets to trade: draft picks, Yakemchuk, etc. The issue is: is the asset received worth the cost?wonder what he would cost but this is the perfect winger for timmy. He at the perfect age, buddies with timmy, plays on the wing and is a true top 6 forward.

You want to trade Norris 1 for 1 for a guy who has less points, less goals, sucks defensively, doesn't PK, who has the same amount of term on his contract? Why? To save $800,000?Swap Norris for Cozens. It's a shake up for each team and change in scenario.
Not to save any cash, but to have someone who isn't so injury prone. You want to trade Norris 1 for 1 for a guy who has less points, less goals, sucks defensively, doesn't PK, who has the same amount of term on his contract? Why? To save $800,000?
Is that really worth it if we're getting back a significantly worse player? Not to save any cash, but to have someone who isn't so injury prone.
Honestly man I don't even know. I'm probably making bad trade suggestions because i'm feeling all irrational after the series of losses. Is that really worth it if we're getting back a significantly worse player?
