Hypothetical, NHL expands to a major US city this offseason. The owner really wants Brady.

They propose to swap teams. Meaning, they get all of our players and prospects, including our 2025 draft picks. We get their 2025 draft picks (4th OA or better, etc, and all the expansion draft picks.)

We will assume any NMCs will be waived.

Let's even up things and say it erased the pick we owe Bettman.

So the short of it is, would you rather keep our current roster, or start fresh with an expansion draft?
Is this satire or serious?

Juuso Välimäki on waivers

I do think they will move him or Kleven for a rental.

They have very little assets and Green doesn't player either of them above a certain point.

JBD has no value, maybe a late pick if a team is in a vulnerable spot and needs a righty.
Team is trying to trade Hamonic.. JBD will be the 7th D... If they can't move Hamonic they likely waive JBD

The ridler on x said the team trying to trade Batherson. Avs and Jets on it

Who is the ridler?

Avalanche makes sense. He trains with Crosby and MacKinnon in the summer. MacKinnon seemed upset after the Rantanen trade. Acquiring one of his training buddies might be a nice olive branch.

Friedman said earlier in the month that Mittelstadt's name is out there and we are linked. I wonder if a swap of the two would make sense. They both have similar contracts.

Here is an excerpt from a Feb 7th article:

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman noted the Avalanche looked into acquiring J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks before he was shipped to the New York Rangers. He thinks that's why Mittelstadt's name is “out there” in the trade market. He believes the New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs poked around.

Mittelstadt has two years left on his contract with an average annual value of $5.75 million. The Hockey News' Adam Proteau said that cap hit could become an issue for the team if his scoring fades, but he isn't far removed from his 59-point season in 2022-23.

Doubt he gets claimed with another year left at $2m

Wow, its wild how he got that scoop right after Batherson made multiple awful plays that led to goals against and a vocal reactionary minority within the fanbase started clamouring to trade him (including him, in several misspelled 0-to-2-like posts)

Here's another of his recent scoops:

Anyways, let's talk about this for a few days now

I can't believe he would post that publicly. Our room is in shambles!

I was only joking, it is clearly not Ridley Grieg. I don't think Crossride or anybody else thinks it's Greig, I think he was just putting too much stock into a random fan account.

With that said, he has some solid fake insider game, because you can connect the dots and with the Sens apparently sniffing around on Mittelstadt per Friedman, and the Batherson+MacKinnon connection, a change-of-scenery trade makes sense if Staios is done with Batherson, or feels strongly that he needs to make a statement after last night.

The Riddler needs to fill the Kevin Francis role we desperately need filled since his petty thefts

Wait, Kevin Francis wasn't a legit inside?

But he was on Hockeybuzz.

Reactions: Crosside

I think it's inevitable that he is gone, it's just a question of whether it's this summer, or whether they get a chance to build around him for another 2 or so seasons before trade talks heat up again.

They don't have the pieces to get him now. They have one of the worst prospect pools in the league. Most of their desirable NHL played have NMCs. When he hits free agency in 3 years, Matthew could be on the decline as an impact player, and the Panthers with the current state of their roster could potentially be looking at retooling or rebuilding.

I'm not saying it's impossible for them to be like Boston and remain a perpetual contender well beyond the time people expect, but I think it's more than likely that they begin to decline due to ageing stars and a weak prospect pool.

The Rangers have all the pieces to make this work. They have prospects in Perrault and Othmann, a few young NHL D, and they have Lafreniere who while he has struggled to get to the next level with the Rangers would be a big name addition in this market.

They also could probably take Norris which might be a plus to Ottawa if a veteran is coming back in his place.
