If we could somehow upgrade Acciari to a top-6 winger like say, Bunting, I don't mind this idea.
I do think Staois is trying to get away from the Norris contract and at this point a year ago, that Norris contract had big-time negative value.

I wonder how much Bunting would cost. He's got 28 points in 55 games, scoring at a 41-point pace. If Hall got a 4th, Bunting will take a 3rd just to get the convo started. Maybe a 3rd and JBD while LTIRing Norris till the playoffs

Washington was getting rid of Jensen anyway. We got sucked in and overpaid. Jensen has been great but we certainly overpaid

I would be very surprised if Norris is traded during this season. If it's going to happen, it strikes me as a summer trade.

You’d think Norris would have more trade value if he returns to the roster, finishes the remaining games & plays well. We could also use him to push for the playoffs.

Likely more than one factor involved, but he’s been better with Jensen as his partner versus another offensive defenseman playing his off side like Chychrun. Chabot also mentioned that he was finally healthy going into camp this year.

I think most people acknowledge that the trade makes us better because Jensen was what we needed.

I think the criticism boils down to that we should have gotten more of a plus than a third.

Whether that's fair or not, none of us know without knowing the market for Chychrun and what may have been on the table earlier in the process, like at that last TDL.

Agreed and at equal salary I still keep Chabot over Chychrun.

Chabot was ruined by management not getting him help over all those years. How many years were people calling for a RHD to play with him?

Having a right shot partner like Jensen who plays well in all three zones has helped Chabot a lot. Chabot played better when Zub was his partner too. Having two left shot defencemen together is problematic especially in the defensive zone.

Chychrun has one of the most underwhelming seasons for a big addition in SENS history with people offering to buy the bus ticket out of town and now we're saying we sold him low?

We got an asset in return who has single handedly transformed the makeup of our D and contributed to one of the biggest turnarounds we could ever hope for in our defensive metrics, yet there's an argument that it wasn't a good enough return?

I'm sure glad SS didn't play hardball to the point of botching the deal and took what he believed was a good offer.

I think Vancouver is not the most likely team here.

I would think a team like Utah would have a lot of interest along with Seattle, amongst others. They have a ton of cap space and need centers … More than Vancouver.

Crouse and Maccelli have been scratched this year (Maccelli more than Crouse) and both have had bad seasons. Crouse is typically a 40 point guy and has 12 points on the season but he’s the type of player I could see Staios being interested in. He has 2 more years after this one at 4.3M before he turns UFA.

Maccelli is a good playmaker and could be a good fit with Stutzle. He has 2 more years at 3.4M before he turns RFA. Clearly out of favour with their coaching staff.

I don’t think a deal is happening before the offseason if it happens but that’s what I would expect.a change of scenery type trade with guys that would fit on this roster. I still think the best option is to keep Norris and if you want to create cap flexibility just send Perron somehwere with a sweetener.

Utah is currently running Kerfoot/Hayton/Mcbain at center. Norris would be a massive upgrade and great fit with Keller and Schmaltz. Nowhere you can acquire a young top 6 center for that price. Norris has a very decent buyout option too if it really doesn’t work out.

I also saw Utah mentioned a few pages back as a destination for Norris and I have to agree that they do make quite a bit of sense as a trade partner if we were seriously considering a Norris trade.

You bring up some intriguing pieces, I personally don't have much interest in Kerfoot being part of a Norris return but I can see the Sens having various degrees of interest in McBain, Crouse, Maccelli and even Hayton. My feeling is that McBain would not be on the table, I think Utah views him as a long-term piece sort of how we view Pinto or Greig.

IMO Crouse would be the piece that we would push for the most in a potential trade with Utah. He doesn't seem to have acclimated well to the move and makes sense as a buy low/change of scenery candidate. Worst case scenario would be that his production doesn't bounce back but he would still be a physical presence and play a heavy game to take some pressure off of Brady from having to be the team's primary tone setter. I agree with you that he seems like the kind of player that Staios would likely target.

I like the idea of getting a C back if we were to trade Norris, so a package that would make sense to me would be Crouse + Hayton.

That would allow Utah to run Cooley-Norris-McBain down the middle when fully healthy, which is an upgrade for them and gives a long-term solution at 2C as long as Norris doesn't re-injure the shoulder.

Ottawa would have Stutzle-Pinto-Hayton/Greig as centre depth and gains Crouse as a rugged middle 6 winger along with improving forward depth and cap flexibility.

i disagree with the smith part. The team as a whole is more committed to their defensive play under Green

I agree for Mcbain. Maybe more wishful thinking on my part because I really like the way he plays but for Crouse I agree and think he’d be a likely piece in a trade.

Hayton would be a great piece but I’m not sure I see them needing to part with him and Crouse for Norris with the associated risk. I think if it came to that we would need to add something valuable to Utah. Hayton has similar production to Norris this year, no injury concerns and making 2.65M. I think Hayton on his own probably has similar value than Norris although we can all agree that Norris is a better player.

Kerfoot I only added for cap/salary purposes but I agree otherwise no interest in him.

If we were able to snag Hayton that would be great but it would definitely cost more than just Norris IMO.

Overall I agree with your message though and the logic behind it.

Pinto is going to be an absolute STUD and plays a critical position AND looks like the perfect brand of hockey player that is successful in any situation and any atmosphere.

With Norris seemingly on his way out(even if he isn't) it's an absolute no go.

That package you have there is for like a top 10 player in the league.

People also acting like Perron is not good. He is still very much serviceable and in different circumstance we would have retained a bit and could have gotten a 3rd or higher.
