At this point, we should just keep Pinto and Norris. Centers are too hard to find. And we know what those two can do.

Best bet is to try and find a couple gritty wingers with some decent skill to give our guys some space. Not sure who those targets would be...all I know is Yak and our first can't be trade chips.

Unless you’re trading Norris plus an asset for a better center you’re right

Dobson is going to need an 8M+ extension to buy up any UFA years. The number is only that low because he is taken a step back this season. Maybe if he is traded to FLA1/FLA2/VGK/DAL/etc, that number goes down a bit due to team prestige and taxes.

A team acquiring him could get a lower cap hit by going shorter term with only RFA years through arbitration, or a pre-arbitration settlement - but then they risk walking him to unrestricted free agency.

Roy apparently tried to get Chabot from us when Colorado shopped Duchene (Chabot+Zib for Duchene was apparently agreed to, but Sakic nixed it). But Chabot has finally come back into his own, that doesn't seem like the right trade to make with the current makeup of the team.

If we are shopping Norris, then the obvious suggestion would be Norris for Dobson, but I don't see why the Islanders would do that.

Isles need to retool by retaining half on Palmieri, Nelson, create capspace, and build around someone like Dobson. Having said that Lou is probably going to keep them both and extend them to 3-4 year deals and move Dobson for something underwhelming. Wouldn't mind acquiring Nelson or Palmieri for a low draft pick or even bring back Pageau who can play up and down the line up, doesn't have injury troubles and won't break the bank.

Lamoreillo has been such a horrible GM for the Isles. Should have been put out to pasture after he destroyed the Devils.

If he's dumb enough to sell low on Dobson and make the Isles even older and less talented than they already are, I'm sure there will be plenty of teams all over that.

Dobson would be a great pickup, but we're not really the best fit. Can't afford to trade any good forwards and already have two good RD, with another coming in Yak.

Knowing Lou, he'd only want vets with term. Could be a way for us to move Perron and Amadio.

Sure we'll kill our current forward depth, but just let Dobson go ham with the puck

Amadio is fine. He brings enough to mostly justify his salary.

It's a pipe dream to think we'd ever get Dobson for Perron and Amadio, even if there was a big plus attached.

If he gets moved it'll probably be to a team that could use a top 4 RD and a #1 PP QB and is willing to trade a top 6 forward to get him.

GMs say a lot of things... that was early season before they started targeting Cozens. That's ok though I prefer Bunting for age reasons
It would take one hell of a lot subconscious reconditioning for me to remove the odorous Toronto stink from my mind of Bunting, the dirty whiny little bastard! That said, there are crap-disturbers on most every team that you despise playing against but would not mind (love is earned!) on your team! Sport is very tribal after all!

I believe it, if this was precipitated by Dobson telling the Islanders "I'm done being on a shit team, I'm leaving ASAP and nothing will make me want to stay here."

I don't think that's even needed in this case.

Lamoreillo has never thought that highly of Dobson. Didn't opt for a long-term contract after Dobson put up 51P as a 22YR old defenseman.

Gave him a cheap 3 year bridge deal instead and didn't extend him this summer after his 70P season.

In all seriousness, Dobson would be a great candidate to try and acquire, but is there room for him in the system? A new contract will be $8 million at the least and we already have Yakemchuk in the system as an RD offensive defender. Dobson would play behind Zub and Jensen right now, but we can always move Zub or Jensen to the third pairing. We would have an stacked D but I feel like Dobson is a luxury right now.

Great player, just not sure if he'd be the right fit here.

I think trading Norris is a terrible idea, we will immediately be looking for a 2nd line center to replace him. I like the idea of keeping him and trying to find a scoring winger. Strength down the middle!
