nyquist+annusen for forsberg+something+contract to at least balance salaries unless we think we can bury the contract without a claim.

If we want a target that can add speed to the lineup too, theres hall, donato, bjorkstrand, gourde and rakell (but this contract is risky)

I like Nyquist but I think Annunen would cost even more on his own. They need a good cheap backup, like we do, and his numbers have been great so far this year.

Tony Deangelo is interesting - RD with offense who’s looking for an NHL return.

Jacques Martin coached him in NYR, so there is a direct tie there. Maybe Jacques didn’t like him because Deangelo was cut the year Jacques was there, but he’d also know best what happened and if Deangelo can be fixed

Interesting because the culture in Ottawa was not strong enoguh 2-3 years ago to bring on a player like this, today the culture and leadership strong enough to keep this kid under wraps

I think G must be dealing with a nagging injury. He was for a stretch at the start of the season absolutely on fire and seemed like one of the few guys to seriously care about winning.

Until December, his FO% was typically 50-70% but just before Christmas he started to fall off.

He still has about 60% FO% on the season.
His scoring is down for sure but he's pacing for 53 Pts.

Stutzle was taking faceoffs last night when G was on his line, so likely that G is dealing with something.

How is his skating? If great, he might be worth getting but has to be signed as UFA for next season.

Aside from Nyquist, I'd love to get someone like Lauzon off them. He'd be a hard hitting defender that is up there among league leaders for defencemen in hits.

his skating seems to have regressed as per nhl edge (havent seen him regularly to fully comment). I just see him as a more realistic acquisition.

Personally I dont really see too much available from ottawa's point of view: gregor (if we get a forward), forsberg, crookshank (no value but ufa in the offseason, someone may want a try out), soogard, 2 of our 3rd round picks next year

so basically we have nothing really available lol. That stupid first round pick penalty makes things more questionable
