I feel like we're going in a circle here...
Not really. Hopefully we get competitive over the next 3 years but to be cup contenders will require smart trades, some luck at the draft table, making smart FA signings around our 2020 draft class.

Orielly for norris would be such a miss hes a guy who isn't going to be traded for much due to age and contract. Trading Norris for him would not be the move I would be making imo

If you bring in Oreilly you can't also have Perron and G going into next year just way to slow and old. Orielly would make a lot more sense if Perron was moved

I don't want O'Reilly nor Perron. Too old and too slow. I am not sure we should sign Giroux either as he is ageing out fast; I like his vet smarts and face-offs but he is behind the play or slowing it down. We need more speed at F in the top 6, plus an offensive D.

JT Miller in a Norris+ trade makes a lot more sense...too bad JT doesn't want to come to another canadian team

Everybody would love JT Miller, Rantanen, etc - but do you guys really think those are realistic paths when it comes to trading an above average centre who has a shoulder that is held together by the grace of god and is signed at 8M for many more years?

Next time you see Steve Staios suggest to him that he should trade his bad assets for superstars.

JT Miller is a very good hockey player but he seems to be a big douche.
Green would know him so I guess I would go by what he thinks

I think my biggest thing is the sens don't really need another over the hill guy who makes 4mill+ like Oreilly when we already have Perron and G. G can stick around for next year but he would have to make 3rd line money as he isn't really a top 6 winger anymore.

If we are moving Norris to clear cap then that is okay in the summer but not now. JT Miller is the type of player still playing at a high level and plays a hard game which fits in with what we are going for.

I guess my point is ORielly doesn't make a lot of sense as long as Perron is in the mix and he probably won't cost a lot to acquire.

Another option if the pens trade away assets for picks would be Bunting for me but we would have to clear cap

I mean if you asked most people last year if Boston would trade us Ullmark *and* take Korpisalo's contract off our hands, they'd have said the same thing.

I think what used to be a problem was our perception as a clownshow of an org *on top of* the Canada tax (taxes, weather, etc.). Hopefully that's gone now and the only uphill battles are the Canada tax part.

But, Ullmark's extending here kinda showed that for the right kinds of players at the right parts of their lives we can be an attractive destination.

I agree that O’Reilly makes zero sense. I am at a loss with which winger might fit fit. Maybe just don’t add and see what our forward group looks like with Perron

We have 5 exceptional 4th liners in Ostapchuk, Cousins, Gregor, Amadio and Gaudette.

Well, nobody is suggesting Norris for Rantannen - I've suggested Norris for what is an underwhelming return from Chicago with the intent that it clears cap to sign Rantannen as a UFA in the off-season...so...you good?

Never thought we'd be 7th in goals against, but now we need some scoring help as we're 23rd in goals for.

Wonder how Nyquist would look with Stutzle. He is having a down year but had 75 points last year.

Given what I saw tonight at the arena Green had Norris out for most of the defensive zone faceoffs, it used to be Giroux & now he has Norris taking those. That IMO is a high degree of trust with Norris in the faceoff circle, I don't see them moving Norris anytime soon especially with Giroux, getting closer to retiring.
