Yeah, I don't see Amadio or Perron going anywhere. Given our cap situation, we just have to pray that our needs can be filled internally next year.
I share your view that Amadio and Perron are not going anywhere. Which team would trade for them at their salaries, performance levels, and injury issues? No sane GM would do so.

Ok so just bored and messing around…let’s say we decide Pinto can be our #2 centre, and comfortable with Greig as the 3

What’s your galaxy brain move(s)?
I would trade, move on from:
Norris
Gaudette
Hamonic
Forsberg
Perron

Then sign Marner to a stupid contract :)

$92.5 mill projected Cap

+ Marner $13

Still have $10 million to add:
Complimentary top 6 F
4th line F
Back up G

$82.6 million
F- $47.6

Stutzle 8 Marner 13
Tkachuk 8 Pinto 3 Batherson 5
Amadio 2.6 Grieg 2.5 Giroux 3.5
Ostapchuk 1 Gregor 1

D- $27
Sanderson 8 Zub 5
Chabot 8 Jensen 4
Kleven 1 JBD 1

G- 8
Ullmark 8

*Norris for a good winger would be the only type of larger move that would make sense.
We have a lot of centres:
Ostapchuk clearly needs a full time job at centre, and while Grieg has looked good on the wing with Pinto and Tkachuk I still think he looks way better in the middle.
Not sure this helps, but hopefully it does. I filled in some of the void roster slots and came up with a $93.8 m, 22-player roster. Retained & buyout salaries were included (& were missing in your post).

Some players are in a different position versus your post. But, as long as they are identified & included in the roster spreadsheet somewhere, that’s what is most important for this exercise.

Orange shaded cells = a placeholder (TBD) or a current player with a new contract

Blue shaded cells = a RFA with his new contract

Yellow shaded cells - an ELC with a new contract

I think this spreadsheet is already quite optimistic because it includes a 2nd line winger @ $3.5 m, and Giroux for $3.5 m. I’d guess Giroux at $3.5 m would mean carry over bonuses for the following year.

Arthur Kaliyev on waivers

If they do like him, I think they might prefer for him to clear waivers before acquiring him. He is clearly a project at this point. If he clears waivers, there is no pressure to force him into an NHL spot.

Of course, that would be contingent on the Kings being open to trading him. Also, on the Senators feeling that another team won't nab him.

He will probably clear, especially since he is on 1-way money, but it is never guaranteed.

Would have to assume he means the Dubois/Kuemper trade that went down last summer.

Yes.

I miss the days when we had depth players like Vermette and Fisher! Who were night and day better than our current so called superstars like Norris and Batherson.

Wish I could just go back in time and re-live those times

Other than Greig at 3M it looks reasonable.

Amadio and Perron are now both skating according to Garrioch so maybe they'll be in the line-up this weekend? Also Jensen is sick, wonder when he'll be in the line-up? Hamonic also out so that would mean JBD and Mantipalo both in, ouch. Maybe Amadio & Perron returning will help the top 9 in scoring. Hearing that Ullmark is week-to-week is not encouraging. Someone on the Ullmark thread said it's a herniated disk. Not good as that doesn't heal on its own. Hope Forsberg gets his game back soon otherwise it may be too late by the time Ullmark returns (if he can even be effective with that back issue).

Maybe a Norris for Gibson swap, with other pieces to balance the depth.

Norris has been in the trade rumours since this regime took over last year. I doubt he has a lot of value. I also don't Gibson has a lot of value given his term and up and down play the last few seasons.

You’d like to spend 14M a year on goalies?

It would 100 percent be a desperation trade to save the season, I am not even going to hide that. But it isn't really paying 14M on goalies. That number would be subsidized by moving out Norris who after this season is still signed at 5 years 8M per, but is not worth that when factoring in his production and the risk of his shoulder injuries.

I assume we couldn't just move Norris without some sort of cap considerations like retention, taking back a bad contract, or swapping for other less desirable players with term.

I don't think it can be underestimated how important it is to prove this team can make the playoffs this season. If you just go by what historically happens with star players who have leverage to ask for a trade after missing the playoffs for the first 7 years of their career, they usually ask out. That ignores the history of the Tkachuk family, and their extreme level of awareness and competence when it comes to advocating for themselves and maximizing their leverage. When I say Tkachuk family, I also am referring to his super agent Uncle.

If swapping Norris for Gibson keeps them in the hunt, you do it and you worry about the 14M tandem later.

(Just in case someone reads this and thinks Norris for Gibson is a rumour, it's not - but Gibson along was one of the names thrown around in speculation as a goalie who could be available if the Senators wanted to make a move. The Senators weren't directly linked to him.)

It’s still sad that all of this would have been avoided if they had just paid Nick Paul his reasonable 3x5.

Paul > Joseph or Amadio
Paul at 3.0 >> Joseph at 2.9 or Amadio at 2.6.
Yeah paul is the better player before and now and was perfect fir for our bottom 6 . Dorion just had to Dorion. Guy deserve his 3mil a year a worked hard for it all his career.

Green wil play him like 4 minutes a night.

But honestly. Stutzle needs a winger. Badly. We need to start taking some chances on these shooters
I dont see him as a big upgrade on Gaudette honestly ( from the litlle I know about him he is slow and not too smart).

But I guess you can try him with all the injuries we ve got.

Looked at Pinto’s salary for reference ($3.75 m) as he also was RFA when his contract was renewed and then went lower. I thought I might be a little light on one of the new wingers, so it might be a wash if let’s say Grieg’s salary is $500 k high.

Also, I suspect if Giroux goes down to $3.5 m, he probably has a performance bonus based contract and that could be mean carry over bonuses being applied to the following year’s cap.

Weren’t you saying the cap should go up significantly? If it does, then I’d expect player salaries will also similarly increase.

i have no issues with amadio to be honest, hes on pace for 22 points (had 27 points last two years) so offence has taken a bit of a hit but the defensive play is there

as for perron we honestly dont know what we have since he has been injured for a significant amount of time. You are correct no one is going to trade for him but his buyout isnt the worst if need be. 1.33 million for two years. This year is a wash with his cap hit so lets see if he comes back and does something. If not robidas island and we get to use his cap hit

Pinto is on his 3rd contract and is a much better player. I’d give Greig a 2 year deal at 1.5M year 1 and 2.5M year 2 for a 2M AAV.
