Whoever acquires Kreider is in for a bad time, unless it's something like Perron for Kreider.

He is about to fall off a cliff. Add in that he clearly doesn't want to be traded, to the point that Friedman claimed that Kreider is calling teams to disclose his injuries and dissuade them from trading for him.

So whoever gets him is getting a declining hurt player who may not be that motivated based on the circumstances.

If they trade him without cap coming back, it will be something like the Trouba trade. They will get a late pick.
That second para is crazy, I didn’t know that.

There are direct quotes in that summary.

He very clearly doesn't want to deal with moving cities. Someone will take him off of his past reputation, but I don't think the Rangers are going to get value for him without taking back a bad contract. He also has a 15 team trade list. We don't know which teams are on the list, but generally players put Canadian teams like Ottawa on their no-trade list.

I wonder if Kreider would be willing to go to NYI, NJD or Buffalo. The move wouldn't be too drastic.

NJD and Buffalo have the assets, and NYI loves aging/declining vets

Put him on waivers and a team will pick him up and then trade him again at the deadline so he can move twice if he doesn’t want to play ball with the Rangers

I think it's great that the players are pissed because a team is using the rules. They don't complain when they use the rules though. "I want a trade, but I have a no trade clause so I get to pick where."

Not sure what is meant by “too drastic” especially when it comes to Buffalo. Buffalo is in the same state, but it's not that close geographically or otherwise.

I don't understand why this doesn't get more attention in this context where the shoe is on the other foot. It's like everyone is pounding their fist on the table and not even mentioning some of the nonsense players have pulled.

How many teams have been f***ed by a player demanding out, often when their skills have shown an inkling of decline, and limited the return by still enforcing their NTC/NMC's.

Look at the panels and who's on them. HNIC for example. Hrudey, Bieksa, what'sherface arsewipe, Ron and Friedman. Three players, a guy who should retire and a guy who doesn't want to lose access to the players. Every panel is the same. You put Burke and Torts on there instead of Ron and Elliot....you'd see how quick Bieksa would have f*** all to say. He'd look at the desk and grumble.

Merilainen hasn't looked too bad. His save percentage is not good, but it's a small sample size where he otherwise looked good.

I don't think there is a real solution in the trade market. The market is such a way, that Carolina are trying to take Forbserg from us, AND WE AREN'T GIVING HIM TO THEM. Think about that. What does that tell you about how difficult it is to get an NHL goalie right now?

We should probably claim Primeau, not that he is good, but it won't hurt us to have one more body around. Worst case scenario, he is bad and gets reclaimed or goes to the AHL to give us depth while Merilainen us up, and we have to pay him 1-way money while burying his cap.

I don't expect much from them, but I also almost never tune in to those portions of games. I guess I also meant amongst HF, podcasts and in real life. I haven't heard much or been able to get much traction raising the imo very comparable circumstances of players demanding out and still enforcing their trade protection.

Ya, I thought Merilainen was OK. Hopefully he’ll hold up and get us through a few games. I’m not going to get heavy into the doom & gloom just yet.
