Cousins, Pinto & Amadio have all produced almost identically for pace and most of that lately. Hopefully they can keep bringing it as a group and those totals will trend up.

The offence provided by the bottom six, along with Ullmark going full beast, is pretty much how this streak exists. It's been the difference between winning and losing in a lot of games.

You are absolutely right about the unforgivable aspect of the NHL. Typically that's what the AHL is good for, but not all players should develop there. My gut feeling is he has more skill than he has been able to demonstrate while positioned too high in the lineup. . He should be able to develop and find greater confidence lower in the lineup, as he seems to be doing of late. What frustrates me is that coaches seem to be way too quick to force him too high up in the lineup. Let him find his groove on the 3rd/4th and progress upward as he develops. I hold much promise for him, especially when you consider he has those rare inherent qualities you just can't teach or force - pure grit, spunk, nastiness. I don't want to see him ruined, his confidence completely destroyed. Position him for success and afford him the time he needs. IMO, he's a diamond in the rough. Keep him in the right spot so fans don't sour on him. Btw - it's not his issue if he is not properly positioned for success.
To me it made some sense to give him a shot there after Amadio and before Gaudette but he didn't take to it

ideally perron can come back and keep up with stutzle and we are able to put gaudette against third pairing competition again

Yeah, what a difference 2 to 3 weeks can make. At one point, not very long ago, we were 3 points from last, not just in the conference but in the entire NHL.

Huge question marks around our goaltending, secondary scoring, coaching, GM, ownership, our Captain/leadership, all of our new players, etc. etc.

Here we are now in a totally different frame of mind.
Just goes to show what a roller coaster ride it is to be a fan of a team.

Let's Go!!

I personally would not mess with what we have cooking, that said, if we are looking to add a piece, I saw someone throw the idea of Jason Zucker in Buffalo.

That being said I would want defence before forwards.

7 Billion in Revenues this year. CDN dollar will hurt a little but it’s still a 100M cap in a couple years.
And the estimated $5 - 8 m increase between next year’s cap and 2026-27 can disappear very quickly with new contracts for Pinto, Ostapchuk, new contract or replacement of Jensen, and the carryover bonus for Giroux that started this conversation in the first place, plus the Korpisalo/White buyout/retainage. Virtually all (except Giroux’s) of the Senators big contracts will still be on the books in 2026-27.

As an ‘aside', Bettman shot down the reporting of the big increase for next year that was mentioned by media (Friedman?) and said the numbers were very inaccurate and had no idea how people were coming up with them.

You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today. Abraham Lincoln.

We need both improved D and improved F.

We have limited highly regarded prospects at this time. We have Yak coming in the next 2 years on D. We do not have any Fs coming.

We'll have Perron, Jensen and Ullmark as vets next year, do we still really need Giroux, or instead of paying a $ premium for veteran presence should we go for someone who is objectively a performance upgrade over him?

Not too mention a few of our own "young guys" are now pretty old themselves lol. Hopefully they'll get a taste of the playoffs this year to add to their own experience level.
I have zero issues if they let him walk, I just hope they don't overpay him if he stays. $4-5M would be OK if he continues producing at the same pace as attracting UFAs to this market is challenging.

Pretty much this. I'd say don't touch what's working. If we see some bargains available with players on waivers or management wants to take a risk on an existing FA that hasn't signed but randomly is an option sure, but so far the team is getting the right type of play from every part of the roster (depth scoring, top line stepping up, depth defenders performing, goalie playing lights out etc.,)

Unless of course someone offers an overpay for someone like Amadio lmao
Amadio will become more important if they make the playoffs along with Cousins, Perron and Ullmark who've all been to the dance. However, even Ullmark has never won so it's important to have those voices of experience in the room as this team easily goes off track when they face adversity.

I don't worry about Brady not bringing it, but I do worry that he'll take it too far and spend too much time in the box trying to force things.
He too will need that experience around him. Wouldn't it be nice if they went on a run and Matthew is out of it, cheering his brother on?
