Hmm, my sources are indicating instead that Sens management wants to just "lightly graze" the team with some "trade bullets."

Norris is the right shot to the gut to make.

They won’t get much “value”, if anything, for him, but if they want to send a message and shakeup a pretty broken core, that’s the route to go.

If they trade him, they’ll likely get some salaried guys with term back, who likely aren’t valued too highly.

Put me in the camp that just subtracting Josh isn't going to help. I'm curious to see if they get anything useful in return, if they go that route.

That certainly doesn't seem like a move to improve the team for this year, which maybe is wise, it just seems like freeing up cap for one day in the future.

I 100% agree. I like Norris but getting even some of his $8m contract off the books makes some sense given we have Pinto & Ostaphcuk who can both move up a line. Pinto (2C) and Ostapchuk(3c,4c).

This team needs to really bring in some dmen with size and good defensive play.

Sounds really great lmfao.
Guys is already back on pace for 30+ goals, 55% on the draw, and clearly is not concerned with his shoulder - playing physical not shying away.

Hope we get some shit players back who will
Slither out of our org in 2 or 3 year for nothing while not really providing cap relief or talent.

If I was Staios this would have been my off-season. Don't trade Joseph. Don't sign Perron nor Cousins. Trade the 3rd we used for Joseph and JBD for Fabbro, who gives Kleven an actual vet, and a legitimate RHD depth (Hamonic is fine as a 7th).
Don’t see Korpisalo’s retained salary or total salaries. Maybe its there but not part of the screen shot?

It’s odd timing considering Pinto and Ostapchuk can’t produce where they are, let alone moving them up the line up.

I can see the logic in terms of the future, but that doesn’t feel like it helps us this season. Especially if he’s traded for a dman/dmen, our offense is terrible as is.

It’s hard to say without knowing what you can get back for him though. Teams really need centres, but his contract/injury history feel like a pretty big hit to his value.

IF #9 is the one on the block, then:

Josh Norris (7.95M x 6) + Jacob Bernard-Docker (800K x 1) to CBJ for David Jiricek (915K x 2) + Kevin Labanc (775K x 1)

- CBJ gets their impact forward, has loads of cap space to absorb Norris' contract and ships out their disgruntled prospect in the process.

Giroux -Stützle - Batherson
Tkachuk - Pinto - Gaudette
Perron - Greig - Labanc
Amadio - Ostapchuk - Gregor

Sanderson - Jiricek
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Hamonic

A lot boils down to how Staois & company are defining the problem.

I’m not sure if trading any one player will have enough of an impact if the core just isn’t good enough to be more than just a mediocre team when everything finally aligns and they play to their maximum ability. If we say, like so many do, that a return from Norris would be paltry, then we can’t expect that to turn our fortunes around.

And would sending a message or giving the players a good kick in the pants produce big benefits over the long term? Not sure it would.

They really need to accurately diagnose the problem. That’s step one. A problem well defined is a problem half solved. Its amazing how many failed efforts there have been in the past because step one (defining the problem) turned out to a swing and a miss.

Makes sense but Seravalli hasn’t been a good source in quite some time.
Not sure I trust him or Bruce’s “league executives” either.
