Can anyone explain how we sign Miller and Laf next year?

They have a decent chunk of cap space opening up next year with the buyouts they'll have coming off of the books.

That alone should cover at least one of them. Lindgren is probably going to be moved as well.

They'll get both of them signed. The difference in cap space that they have between this year and next year is going to be 14-15 million. It's not as dire as some want to make it sound.

Carolina taking a beating so far in free agency. They have lost quite a bit of depth and their replacement for all of it: Brent Burns.

They are most definitely not. Thank you. Some of their "signings" have been hilariously wrong. They piggyback off of other twitter accounts random speculation.

This was the first report of this, ahead of Shayna's post, which is fine. Everyone knows what "cap dump" the Rangers need to make.

I saw Lindgren with Montreal he was not that great. Actually far from it. Why does everyone want him? because of Ryan?
Yes. Because of Ryan. It’s stupid.
Rangers prob didnt want to commit term on a backup because Garand looks legit
This and generally it’s not a great idea to invest multiyear in a backup keeper. Rangers cap is extremely tight. They can re-assess next year instead of locking into a guy; and soon enough Garand is ready

He wasn’t even good for the Montreal AHL team, he had a nice five game run with the Blues and a very good AHL season this year, but seems risky for him to be your backup.

bridging them.

Considering they wont be getting any PP1 time, it wont break the bank. KAM has been great but I dont think his contract will be expensive.... nor Laffy.

I'd like to give them 8 years deals to grow into the bigger cap but it's just not feasable. Maybe one of them?

Things change. Kreider and/or Trouba could be moved? Maybe even Panarin. We'll see how things go next season

I don’t think Copp liked NYC after years in Winnipeg aka the Hackensack of Canada.
And I know he wasn’t happy playing wing .
He’s a center

And imo he was right about that; gallant f***ed up playing Strome over him on the pp.
Copp had 2 concussions last year.. plus a lower body at the end of the season going into the playoffs?

Rangers should reward him based on his first breakout season? STinks that we lost some assets to acquire him, but we got our money's worth.

We should be able to find enough space to give Miller a decent extension.

Unless Laf has a massive breakout, you bridge him and make him earn the deal.

If he does break out, we'll probably end up having to do a straight cap dump prior to 23-24. Lindgren and Goodrow for a signed puck and a 7th.

In summer of 2024, Kreider and Trouba downgrade to modified clauses and you move at least one of them if not both.

Charlie Lindgren isn't any good. He's 28 years old and for most of his AHL career was absolutely terrible. I have no idea why anyone had any interest and I'd bet if Ryan wasn't on this team nobody would. This deal, with Washington, doesn't really matter since it can be fully buried in the AHL.

laf may well get pp1 time this year in place of strome, but yes, bridging these guys was always the answer

Only backup that was on the radar is Comrie. The Rangers have always preferred the tried and true backups behind the #1. Talbot was home grown and Raanta was a good reclamation.
