Big loser here is Strome. I don't know what they were offering him but I don't see him getting close to that

With Kakko at 2.5M there's around 283K in cap room with Nemeth still on the roster. No backup goalie. What's going to give? Nemeth is gonna have to be moved.

Not the way you would want to. Find a place where he would like to go then, that most likely isn't Arizona or a tanking team. So you would have to trade him to a nice team and PAY assets to get rid of the contract.

Who says Arizona will be tanking in 5 years? And paying assets to get rid of the contract is fine. There's no difference trading a 2nd to get rid of the contract 5 years from now than there would have been to trade a 2nd to acquire him now with a 5x5.625 contract. If you're comparing it to Goodrow he has a 15 team NTC. That's half the league. It's easily moveable if needed. And why would you exclude buyouts? If they structure it right the buyout could be inexpensive and a viable option if needed.

Trocheck contract is well below market according to EW projections. Bottom line is the Rangers needed something long term at C behind Zibanejad who wasnt a question mark (like Chytil). Trocheck is legitimately good and does everything the Rangers need at 2C. The AAV wont limit their flexibility to extend their young guys.

Term is too much but like Goodrow I'm not going to whine about it when the player was a clear need.

Yupp, and if you think about cap% of a contract instead of dollars this contract should age really well when you look at the projected cap the nest decade.

it is so funny how everyone just says eh we can move this shit contract down the road yet we have had to buyout how many shit contracts? lesson unlearned...
I get that players don't want to get traded from New York. But there should be a hard line of "we are not giving out those". If the players then don't want to sign, well, frankly f*** them. I'm not saying we should be like Vegas who just ship out players they've just signed but we should be able to control those who are here and who are not.

I can understand if you give Zibanejad or Panarin a NMC. But a guy like Goodrow? WHY?

If we bury Nemeth in Hartford, how much do we save? And can we go over the cap with the intention to do that?
