Fischer is in the category of player I feel is more along the lines of just blocking our young players. He's like Zach Sanford. Big enough body, but just very bland on the ice. Arizona has been a wasteland for NHL-caliber talent for many years, however, so he kept getting a spot despite having no particular selling features.

Fischer would be kind of weird in that he's a bottom 6 winger and we have plenty of those, unless Trotz is going to be aggressive with dispatching the likes of Smith, Trenin, Jankowski, Sanford. Fits the profile he's after otherwise, with size at that.

Signed or going to sign? FA doesn’t start for a bit.
It sure seems like these days a lot of players are free to talk beforehand. Whether via explicit permission from their former teams, or off the record... and hundreds of hockey execs, agents, players all just spent a week partying together on Broadway, so... I imagine a ton of deals are already done.

And anyway, while Fischer may not have any great selling features for his on-ice play, he does seem like a guy who makes friends with some big players, like Matthews and Keller, and probably if you ever start chasing guys, they could look at our roster and say "hey, Fisch is a great guy, would be fun to see him again" sort of thing. As a very minor extra feature for him. Plus so long as you are just bumping the Smith/McCarron/Jankowski types, he's still an upgrade in that sense.

Trenin and sissons are the only ones id consider bottom 6. The others are tweeners, bandaids and not long term solutions.

And that's where Fischer would indeed be an upgrade. He's a legit enough bottom-6 guy, instead of just a tweener.

You wanna bet on that? ;o)
I do not. There will probably be some dinky little trade that nobody cares about. But mostly the day will be about announcing all the already-agreed-upon UFA signings.

Unless I just haven't hit F5 recently... :D

Too many D-men now. One of Barrie/Fabbro/Carrier on the way out you'd think.

As for the signing, it's fine. Really hope he doesn't play with Lauzon though, that would not be pretty.

So we got Schenn instead of Mayfield... same(ish) idea, but I do think Mayfield is a better player. Schenn had a good season, but he's about to turn 34. 3yrs is a lot for that age. I could have taken him for 1yr. So far... eh, not sure about this one. :(

Well.... thats a thing

At this point id say barrie and carrier with livingstone come up
Livingstone was pretty awful last season in a small sample size. I'd give him big minutes in the AHL if it was up to me.
