Agreed, Leafs need one of those. There's like... 3-5 guys in the world that you can count on to do that.

Or you say o yah He always struggles at the start of the year then is good mid November on! Fact is when we loss any game things that happened once are considered a problem like 1 time in 10 years a player threw a stick on the leafs. Yuuuup where gunna have a problem. Honestly I get it most people probably don't want to listen to negativity over and over again so you vent here. If you don't think positively from time to time your always gunna have a bad time.Agreed, Leafs need one of those.
Show me a goalie who is consistent every single month. There's maybe a select few who are, and even that's being generous.A good goalie needs to be consistent from October right through til June if a team is going to win it all. Having bad months hurts the team in close playoff races.
It might be better for Andersen to be in a goalie platoon system. He reminds me of a 1B goalie. 1A gets slightly over 50% of the games with Andersen getting the rest.
Also, I think Andersen needs to be pulled the very 1st sign that it's not his night.
Ooops!damn dude you bumped a thread from 2016??
i thought we locked him up for another 5 @ 5aav lol

I don't know how much his next contract will be since he is in a contract year, but I think someone like Alexander Georgiev from the New York Rangers is the perfect backup / potential 1A/1B goalie. I am not the most informed person, but he seems like a real gem. I want someone like him as our backup. Babcock will overplay Andersen this year again and he will not be rested for the playoffs."Can't afford a good backup"?
If you're spending more than 1 million on your backup goalie, you're doing it wrong.
Defend Andersen if you must, however, he is consistent at having bad games all too often IMHO. He can go for an extended period of games giving up bad goals. 1 or 2 bad goals a game can really affect the confidence of the team in front of him.Show me a goalie who is consistent every single month. Nope he's a 5 million dollar goalie to us. Otherwise we trade up. There won't be any messing around with a what if goalie. Right now it's a what if team blamed on the coach being the reason so it will go Babcock Then Andersons next in line succeed by the breaking up of the big 4. Then Dubas head and then panic mode and self destruction. Not worried for awhile and by then if they were that bad I'd be ready for a new core. All players would have modest trade value, and Taravers can do either or and he'd be open to both. I'm sure if it derailed, it can be a clean slate just that quick. Plus no Zaitsev.Defend Andersen if you must, however, he is consistent at having bad games all too often IMHO. All goalies have bad games, it happens. With Andersen, we have seen him have poor outings in October, and, with a smaller sample size, in the playoffs in April.
When his current deal is done, can anyone see our Leafs paying Andersen anywhere near $8-10M AAV? That's likely his asking price.
There’s obvious things (like Babcock’s decisions) and then there’s debatable things.
Andersen is a solid goalie and probably the best we’ve had in almost 20 years. Not debatable.
Andersen is a big game flopper. Pretty damn debatable in my opinion.
ya and they cost about 8 to 10 million per, sooooAgreed, Leafs need one of those.
