Name is a coincidence, this is based on Deano loving Freddy Gaudreau when he was the Wilds head coach and CBJ needing to hit the floor. He had an injury addled season last year and due 2.1 m for the next 3 years.

He's an NHL player, but blocking prospects.

Wild add a 3rd for a B level prospect?

That's a 4 year contract...that's gonna be a fair more expensive than a 3rd to dump due to term. That's also 8mil in costs too which is already in 1st round pick territory for a true cap dump as they are who they are...there is little recovery value by somehow becoming a top 6 player unlike say a Laine who was just recently traded. You are looking at probably a 2026 1st to dump that due to length alone unless you give up a much more valuable prospect.

A solid 4th liner at $2m x4 is only slightly overpaid. Not the same situation as having an $8m x1 4th liner. It's not a good contract but not something you'd have to pay a 1st to move.

This, Ceci’s 3,2 million only cost a third and Emberson. Only it was one year left of it..

I think if CBJ take on a cap dump, the term length won't be longer than two years. Waddell has talked a lot about having flexibility going forward. Considering that they are looking to sign up their core in the coming years, I doubt they would take on a long-term contract unless they really like the player. Is F. Gaudreau that player? Highly doubtful.

In a vacuum, it makes some sense. Freddy played injured last year, and it showed in his play, but in the previous two years he was a good 3rd liner. Skates well, very responsible defensively, plays C and wins FO's, Evason loves him, CBJ needs vet players who are good people/mentors (Freddy is loved). The way salaries are going up, 2M is hardly a "cap dump" for what he brings to a team when healthy.

Having said all that, the optics of getting a "replacement Gaudreau" are pretty bad. Every time CBJ fans hear his name they will be thinking of JG... no one wants that. Probably best to go after someone else.

Every time I watch the wild he plays so well. What happened? What about a deal around him for Hamonic?

I am expecting a bounce back from Freddy. He got a core injury early on from a Reaves check, and never looked right after.

Hamonic is of no use for a team like MN, who has a lot of Dmen and D prospects. Spurgeon will be back, Faber is a RHD too, and Bogosian looked surprisingly good and healthy as the 3rd RHD.

Except that Ceci's contract is a bargain now that he isn't on the Oilers anymore.
3.2 for 2nd pairing Dman
