Confirmed with Link: Frederic & Max Jones traded to Oilers for 2nd , 4th and Max Wanner

But you don't? What would have been better for you that was realistic?

Would you like it more if they deal Coyle and use some of the savings to bring Frederic back in the offseason at 4x4 to center the 3rd line?

I would.

But don't think the bruins will do it and this place would probably melt down.

I’m very pro sell but Freddy is the kind of guy I keep - some offensive potential with extra entertainment value added in

So no, I don’t like the deal - which doesn’t make it an objectively bad deal of course, the only thing becoming objective to me is id run this franchise differently than most

Am I the only one disappointed in the trade? Yeh Freddy sucks this year but so does most of the team. I’m not saying I’m displeased to see him go but I would’ve thought a late 1st to be a possible return

I would think if that was a possibility it would have happened.

The Bruins' drafting history under Sweeney is so hideous I don't think words exist to properly describe it.

Not true at all.

That is a guarantee when we trade players

….. he is about to become Cam Neely 😂
Yea temporarily.Freddy takes way to many nights off. When he skates hard he is tough to handle but when he don't he just goes through the motions. He has a chance at a Cup in Edm though so he will play hard for them, before signing with Blues in off season. That's my opinion anyhow.

Is this where you tell us he did ok for the picks he had without top rds to choose from and throw Spicer & Gasseau ,Locmelis Pelosi Jellvik Kuntar at us.Then I throw Lysell Anderson out there to counter it and we go back and forth.Lets save alot of time and just tell me since he took over who the forwards are on the Bruins roster he drafted?

Good move by Sweeney here. Frederic is having a down year but he landed you a second that could be early in the round.

That’s the obvious prize here. Nail that pick and this trade is great — obviously going to take a while to judge this.

Whatever you get out of the 2026 4th and Wanner, who I’m interested in seeing in Providence, is gravy.

Max Jones wasn’t giving you anything this year and maybe next. You cleared a contract slot, 1M on the cap and a spot in Providence.

Listen to offers from everyone for everyone and get picks or prospects. Team is s*it run over and everyone knows it. It reminds me of some ways the last Thornton years where you could tell there was a divide in the room. Talent is one thing. Chemistry on the ice is another. Neither one is there. Things need to change.

Get assets, clean front office out before the draft and accept you'll stink for a few years. Use top 10 draft picks to hopefully fill the roster with talent. This team is one that any top seed would love to meet in the first round. We're in Old Yeller territory. Fire the shotgun.

No thank you.

Think if he were healthy and playing that it's a good possibility. Renting an injured player without a conditional return is taking quite a gamble.

Wanner should be released immediately. Have we learned nothing from the Mitchell Miller debacle?
Amazing how appropriate your user name is, it just springs to mind after reading so many of your posts.

I predicted a late second for Frederic, knowing a contending team would overpay for the toughness reputation. They did a lot better than that getting St Louis’ pick and now we get to root against them and hope they go on a nice long losing streak to improve the position.

What’s crazy is when you look at what happened to the Bruins original pick in that round: a 2023 first, the 2nd this draft, and a 2024 3rd for Hathaway. Wow, that’s a lot, though part of the overpay was to unload what was left on the Craig Smith contract. By the way, has any GM paid more to get rid of the bad contracts they signed than Sweeney has?

Said it in the roster thread but that's an overpayment by the Oilers.

Why you give up a prospect with something resembling upside + a 2nd rounder for BIG FRED baffles me. Dude f***ing stinks. Which idiot is in charge of that or--

Oh. Makes sense. Carry on!

Mckeen's scouting website had this to say about Wanner

Sounds eerily similar to Brandon Carlo.
If he becomes similar to Carlo that is a huge win. I don't expect much from him.

I'm just happy the Bruins look to be sellers, not buyers at this years deadline, rather than being foolish and making a bad trade trying to get in the playoffs. The return is (almost) secondary to that.

Return looks good/fair though.
